John, that's why I said "conceptually"; I understand the literal difference.
Since pressing isn't done for conservation purposes, there's only one real reason to get books pressed, and that reason also happens to be the primary motivation behind trimming a book. So if both are done during manufacturing, both involve manipulating a book, and both are done primarily for the same reasons, I don't see much difference between the two other than the stigma attached.
