Problem is there are four different 1807 varieties with a small fraction ranging from R-1 to R-5. An AU S-272 would be one of the finest known and could easily sell for $70K or more. An AU S-271 might barely make the bottom end of the extended Condition Census and be worth a few thousand. An AU S-273 wouldn't make the CC at all. And an AU S-274 would just about be the finest known and easily worth in the mid five figures.

In the Dan Holmes sale
S-271 PCGS AU-58 this coin is about #4 in CC $9,200
S-272 NGC VF-25 (EAC VG-10 CC is based on EAC grades this coin is #10 in CC) $25,300
S-273 Sharpness AU-50 Net EAC 45 $6,325
S-274 XF-45 $33,350 This coin is #2 in CC

I must need to update my system. I see a printed bid of $1,450 in the Quarterly. I've had the issue of my system being off on a few coins before but never by that much (% wise that is).

The only auction result is a single coin that Heritage sold in early 2008 for $63,250 in MS64BN. Take it as you will, but bid on a 64 is $12,600.

As others have mentioned, I know you'd loupe the heck out of it, but show it to another few trusted dealers first. That early copper can be altered really well to look super original to most people.
