The top and left edges look like they have faint creasing. The back has some wrinkles too. Wouldn't this book be a good candidate for pressing?
When considering pressing, I think the question is, would the book grade signicantly higher after pressing has removed all the defects it's capable of removing?
If a 9.0 can be pressed to a 9.4, that's significant. And, depending on the book, it could be worth the cost and effort. In the case of the Sun Girl, I'm not convinced pressing would raise the grade significantly. It might just turn a 7.0 into a slightly nicer 7.0. I think the book has flaws that would keep it from grading higher, even after a pressing.

The grade came back from CGC today: 6.0 ow/w. That's real close to my original estimation, when I bought the book a few years ago.
However, I was surprised to find no notation mentioning the fact of this book being manufactered with just one staple. Maybe this sort of thing isn't noted on the label except on higher graded books? I also wonder now if that was factored into the grade, instead of being relegated to a notation.

The single staple was common; that wouldn't affect the grade.
I read your final post before I typed my guess, but I was going to say 5.5 or 6.0 depending on whether the line in the black area along the spine was a tear (5.5) or just a stress line (6.0), so I think you got a fair grade.
