I admire your re-focusing not an easy task. I for example have started re collecting just in the past 9 months. Went from 0 - 25,000. Again showing no focus or signings of slowing down...but for me its that thrill of finding those rare gems in a collection and i have a terriable itch that really can never be satisfied.
Great read

Imodium,
Thanks for your response to my journal!
I can totally relate to being moved by the "collector's itch!" This was one of the reasons that motivated me to write this journal; however, for me, I just decided to keep it in check as of lately.
I think all of us collectors have "the itch" to some degree or another. However, I guess if you are truly trying to compete with other top collectors in achieving the number 1 sets in specific categories, then having a focus is almost a prerequisite in attaining those goals.
So at the end of the day, it all depends on the personal goals of the individual collector, as one's perspective can vary based off of those set goals or lack thereof. Basically, what works for you is great; just as what works for me is great!
HAPPY COLLECTING!

Speedmaster,
Thanks for the positive comments!
I plan to enhance my Wolverine Limited Series (1982) set in the near future. I would like to acquire a 9.9 of issue #3 or #4, and I am currently awaiting for the CGC to grade the first two Signature Series Wolverine Trade Paperbacks (1987) ever submitted to the CGC! I had them both signed by Stan Lee a few months ago, so once I receive them back, history will be made once again!
