Last statement to the article: Much of this work takes place in developing countries such as China, India and Indonesia.

Should have added: where there is little to no regulations about the use of hazardous chemicals.

The source isn't unusual at all, electronics get recycled for the metals all the time. What is unusual is that it looks like they are trying to make it the sole source of material. If they don't succeed and have to use other sources as well we will probably never hear about that, but they'll have this article to point to showing how "green" they are.
