Please help me grade this - New Adventure Comics #18

Hi,

Could someone give me a guess on what this would approx. be graded as? Perhaps it's worth after grading too?

The staples are sunken in. A couple crease on the spine. Two hardly noticeable creases on the right corner, along with a dimple impression.

Please and thanks.

Welcome to the boards.

It looks super good. I'd be suspicious of "Extensive Resto". Are you buying it or do you own it already? Do you know it's history (was it your grandfather's)?

I think it would at least grade as an 8.0, maybe higher with a press.

These almost never come up for auction so there's not a lot of price info. I think if it's legit (unrestored) you're looking at a $3000-$5000 comic. If it's restored then it will value at a fraction of that.

thanks guys!

it came from a collection that someone had for the longest time. the rest of his/her books are not restored..at least i don't think so. was thinking about purchasing it...hoping it will be worth it later down the road as an investment....?

my only concern is whether or it will be worth anything down the road since it's not a super heroes book...pre-super heroes era.

There's no evidence of restoration from those pictures.

I've worked on golden age material and creases like that are common

without breaking color while breaking the stiffer paper fibers of the cover.

Looks like a well preserved copy and I would think it would grade around

7.5 with that long diagonal crease to the front cover.

You really should open the front cover and look in at the spine, look for any types of color change in the cover stock. This could indicate a sign of spine reinforcement and restoration. Those outside creases would bring the book down below a VF alone. If you see any kind of restoration the value would be no better than around Overstreet good.
