I'm just a collector, so while value will play a role in my choices, aesthetics and what not will also weigh heavily. I would choose Batman 217, 227, 232, 234, 251, Detective 395, 400, 405, 411, and B&B 85......without much hesitation.... but then I've been an Adams fan forever. GOD BLESS...

It covers all of the really key issues, except Batman 244.

Also, Detective 443 is a possibility. One of my favourites, and a classic.

You'll definitely need to squeeze 'Tecs 475 and 476 in there also. 217 could really be considered late late Silver and, IMO 227 is really overrated.

+1

The Englehart / Rogers Joker issues are great Batman comics.

I struggled with the omission of Detective 457.......... what a comic :cloud9: GOD BLESS....

Great choice as well, and very significant.

I also think Batman 300 doesn't get enough love.

I won't argue with any of the lists presented; most are a book or two off from one another, but I will second this sentiment and add that I think the cover with the black biker gang is waaaay underrated! 226, I think? I never seem to come across a nice copy, but I would assume a glossy, high grade one must look sweet.

The Adams issues are so spectacular (also benefiting from O'Neil scripts) and the Rogers ones so sweet with another great pairing of artist and writer, that it's hard for anything else to fit in. Hard to toss in a favorite Novick or Aparo story.

I like the DC Special Series 15 from Zonker and I'd also add Detective 469/470 and Detective 438 as other good honorable mentions. 438 has Aparo at his best I think, lots of great driving rain, lots of cool Wayne Manor and batcave scenes, a mystery, yet also ties in to Ras al Ghul. Something like Tec 457 is really, really good but somehow not one of my ten favorites.

I'm going to say:

Detective 404

Batman 243

Batman 244

Batman 251

Batman 255

Batman 234

Detective 395

Batman 237

Detective 475

Detective 476

In that order.

I'd go:

Batman 251

Batman 232

Batman 234

Batman 244

Detective 395

Detective 400

Detective 411

Detective 457

Detective 475

Detective 476

Batman 251 - Killer cover. Is the story inside just as deserving of the number one ranking? (Img borrowed from C-Link, I wish it was mine...)
