Fox Studios' WOLVERINE 3 - LOGAN starring Hugh Jackman (2017)

The preview for this ran before Dr. Strange. It looks like it wants to be a small indie type movie rather than a big blockbuster popcorn flick. I see the box office on this one somewhere in the bottom third of the X-Men franchise movies. Not saying it won't be good, only that it doesn't seem to be set up as a billion dollar blow out event.

X-23's Creator Teased In New Logan Image

jYll5Re.png

The new image shows a picture of actor Richard E Grant in black and white with the caption "Rice. Logan. 3.3.17" Zander Rice is the son of Dale Rice, who was part of the original Weapon X project that created Wolverine. Zander as young when his Father died, but later on he worked with Dr. Kinney on creating a clone of the original Weapon X.

They happened to disagree on a variety of topics, including the clone's gender, but he ultimately delivered X-23 into the world. It looks like Grant will be playing Zander Rice in Logan, and is responsible for the task force hunting X-23 down in the trailers.

Hugh Jackman Reportedly Took A Paycut To Secure Logan's R-Rating

Fans know the final Wolverine film will carry the weighty rating when it heads into theaters, and Logan’s director recently revealed how Hugh Jackman helped ensure the film got its R-rating.

reUo2pY.png

Earlier today, James Mangold told attendees at the 2016 Butt-Numb-A-Thon event that Jackman sacrificed pay for the R-rating. According to Ain’t It Cool’s Eric Vespe, the director admitted Jackman took a salary cut to secure the risky rating.

Of course, the paycut definitely made 20th Century Fox more willing to pursue the higher rating. In the past, R-rated films have historically earned less at the box office because only older viewers could purchase tickets. If Jackman did take the reported cut, then the studio had less money invested in Logan on the front end and helped them fiscally back the R-rating.

Oh Noes, not a paycut! If only I made millions off of one movie in my lifetime...

Bit of trivia...

Did you know Keanu Reeves gave his entire paycheque for The Matrix to the SFX team?

Hugh Jackman Shares New Logan Photo

Hugh Jackman just shared another photo from Logan, his very last film as the titular character Wolverine.

This photo embodies everything that has made Hugh Jackman the perfect rendition of Wolverine from the very beginning to the very end.

He is now an older, tired, and weathered-looking version of Logan, the man who ran out of the Weapon X facility with no memory of who he was and brand new shiny killer claws stuck in his hands.

DOCTOR STRANGE Director Offers His Opinion On Logan

LlJfHQq.png

Fans recently had the chance to see 40 minutes of footage from James Mangold's Logan, and most of the reactions were of the extremely positive variety.

That includes Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, who was one of the happy few in attendance.

Wow! Now I want to see those 40 minutes.

Hugh Jackman's Logan Draws Inspiration From A Classic Western

There's much more inspiration than just from the original comic, however, and it turns out that director James Mangold looked to a classic western for some additional guidance. FOX recently previewed 40 minutes of footage from the film to the press, and it was accompanied by a book of stills from the project. IGN recently shared some text that was included in the front of the book, and it comes from Shane, a favorite western that released in 1953.

When Shane says "A man has to be what he is, Joey. Can't break the mould. I tried it and it didn't work for me", you can see the correlation to someone like Logan, who has tried to walk the hero's path in the past, and finds that isn't who he is anymore.

It could also be a hint at where Logan goes by film's end, as he's always struggled with staying in one place for a mentor like purpose. You could easily see him teaching X-23 some important lessons and then moving on to ride out the rest of his days in isolation. It will be interesting to compare this text to the final film when it releases next year.

Interesting. The original (and now updated) story was from Umberto Gonzalez. He is / used to be considered the insider of comic book new. He puts out as much real news as fake news.

He is accurate most times with his findings and predictions. But like even the best, they can get a false lead or two. The best was when he had a rumor of who was going to play Han Solo. One of the co-directors had fun with that 'news'.
