Thrilled with this latest Maxx cover from Sam Kieth.

The creation process is interesting as Sam dipped the board into a pan of water laced with ink to create the marbled swirling effect. Then he pencilled over areas and ended up with the Damascus look.

The quest for a nice Sal splash is over after a long search. Lost it in an auction in 2012 and happy to get another shot at it this year. Longer description on CAF.

Congrats, I love the page.

A Sal splash is still on my wish list, few have done Hulk as well.

Posted two pieces this week, one is a Starfire Joe Linsner recently did and the other is a sweet

I saw this on Joe FB page and just had to buy it. Love the colours, been wanting a Starfire from him. LIke Emanuela Lupacchino and Amanda Conner's work on Starfire series, but she is NOT suppose to have pupils. Joe got it right!

One of my all time favorite pieces by Redondo, the linework is just amazing. He draw this for "Men, Maiden and Myths" Portfolio published in 1979. I have never seen the originals to any of the other plates. Email me if you know where they might be. A definite Best of 2016 contender!

Got my Heritage win in the mail.

It was identified as a "specialty Tim Sale Heroes NBC piece" that appeared on the Heroes TV show. It was that, but it was also a lot more. It was one of the main promotional pieces for the show at SDCC in 2006. It was also the cover to one of their exclusive variant comics at the show.

It was that along with being featured on the show itself and on buttons, posters and banners.

Very happy with this one..

I posted images of several of it's other uses and publications on the CAF page.

Congrats! Great image and of course it was everywhere for a brief moment there. The Heroes stuff was so hot that year. I remember being in Tim's line at a NY show while he did quick sketches for everyone; as I waited near the front of the line I was talking with the stranger in line next to me about what to get Tim to draw for us and remarked that I was hoping to get Hiro - Tim quickly looked up and called over to me that he would love to draw Hiro. I guess I am louder than I think but never thought he was listening. I rarely see the enthusiasm from an artist about a specific character that I saw from Tim that day. (I got Sylar the next day as well!)

Again, congrats on the sweet sweet art.

Thanks!

Yes the combination of Tim Sale and the Heroes show is one that I remember well. I've been talking to Tim since at least 2007 about doing a full on commission of all the characters but the timing hasn't worked out. This piece is a nice example of that time.

In the early 1980s - when I was 10 or 11 years old - I started reading Garfield, and for long I've been searching for a comic strip from 1978 to 1982 (the early Garfield years). I'm happy to finally get this strip from August 1980, it's also signed by Jim Davis:

My 8-year-old son really likes this painted King Conan cover - I think it's great too - and I just added it to my CAF collection:

I was looking at those Giorello Conan covers in the auction too. Really nice!

I just picked up Ryan Bodenheim's cover for Bloodshot Reborn Annual #1. It looks like Bloodshot has had a rough day.

GRAIL PIECE

I was going to start my 1st "art day" thread, but I've decided to save that for another piece that I'm paying off.

The House of Mystery #238 is one of my personal favorites!

Here's the link to my CAF page, feel free to make a comment :)
