What makes an A–Level PREACHER page?

Now THAT is the kind of page I love.... cool shots of Jesse, great Ennis dialogue, and a really funny scene/moment. That would be an "A" for me (but I wouldn't pay $3k-$5k for it)

It's weird also in that, for me, the more detailed linework of the early early issues affected my enjoyment in a negative way. Dillon clearly put much more time and work into them, but it wasn't until the panels became a bit more sparse/simplified that the pacing, humor and dialogue were able to hit their stride. (Though it could be just that Ennis had perfected his groove at that point and was really dialed-in to the characters.)

3-5k? Damn. In my hunt for a decent Preacher page I was thinking around the 2k mark. I quickly realized I'll never get a Saint page. Wanted a page from issue 12..., didn't look like it would happen. So I told myself I just want any page with Jesse using The Word. I thought I lucked out on the bay months back with this page. Jesse with a cig=check. Jesse using The Word=check. Jesse using The Word to make a point by making a klansmen himself=double check. All that and I got it for a decent price. Hopefully I can grab another page one day

Oh, I see this page has been discussed before, perhaps owned by another boardie. Anyway, this thread peaked my interest in the title with so many great pages shared. Enjoyed reading the TPB, I waited patiently for a Preacher page and BLAM! got hooked on this one. :headbang:

Looking at the PREACHER pages available and the asking prices I'm left asking myself . . . .

hm
These are just asking prices. People hoping to "hit it big". Nothing realistic imo. Especially what is left over. For example, this one sold on clink for $475 and is now listed on eBay for $1000. https://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAuctions%2Fauctions%5Ffirst%2Easp&id=1138521http://www.ebay.com/itm/DC-Vertigo-PREACHER-52-Steve-Dillon-ORIGINAL-ART-Garth-Ennis-1999-Tulip-Amy-/131987016928?hash=item1ebb0a0ce0:g:ey0AAOSwImRYDCjuHowever, with just a little bit of research here, I found one very surprising thing. AKA Rick auctioned it off on clink is he is also the guy currently selling it on eBay. hm Here he is soliciting the pages on the boards:http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=416610&Number=9555629#Post9555629And here he is linking his ebay account so we can see his ID.http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=424325&Number=9731235#Post9731235But back to the original point... Clearly, eBay prices aren't exactly market value.

AKA Rick also sold this page on clink in August and now he is selling it again on eBay.  Buyer beware, I guess...  Goes to show shilling can happen anywhere.  Doesn't have to be a big ticket item.

Too bad clink doesn't keep all their auction archives.

I'm surprised there isn't more discussion about htis

maybe no one cares about this series?  (shrug)

If a shill happens on a Preacher page and no one is there to see it, did it really happen?  lol

It would seem like no one cares about this series, but every time  go to bid on a page other collectors start coming out of the shadows :ohnoez:

Not so sure. Its only March, and I have bought and sold Preacher pages privately this year.

I've also been a legitimate bidder (non-winning) on multiple auctions.

It was just a joke.  :insane:  I picked up a couple as well.  Obviously, they are not all shilled.
