it looks like the critics are "high"

Doctor Strange is basically a reboot of Iron Man, only with a lot more prettier things to look at while you're stoned. It's a good strategy. And it works.

More mature than its predecessors and the first blockbuster of the modern superhero era ideally viewed on a magic mushroom trip.

If "Doctor Strange" can be dispiritingly safe, it can also be just as impressively bold - an hallucinogenic trip along a very familiar path, watching the film is like adding a large dose of LSD to your morning commute.

how is this a positive review ???

The key is an in-on-the-joke -script, which Derrickson co-wrote with Jon Spaihts and C. Robert Cargill, that ingeniously navigates major plot potholes even as it saddles its actors with ludicrous dialogue. But what actors!

REVIEW: DOCTOR STRANGE Is Another Win For Marvel, But It Could've Done With An Extra Dose Of Weirdness

From a visual standpoint, absolutely. A lot of effort has been taken to ensure audiences are going to be taken on a mind-bending trip through multiple realities, the likes of which they will never have witnessed in any other superhero movie. In fact, you'll be hard pressed to compare this to anything you will have seen before, in any film. Think somewhere between Inception and underrated '80s gem Altered States and you're still not close. This extends to the action scenes, and there are some incredibly exciting, imaginative battles as the characters bend reality to their wills to get one up on their opponents. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for the story, which treads over the same old ground we've seen time and time again.

If you're happy enough with the "Marvel method" and don't mind seeing the usual tropes rolled out then this won't be much of an issue for you, but there's definitely going to be a contingent of fans that will wish the -script took a few more chances and veered off into the same inventive, trippy territory that the visuals do.

Doctor Strange isn't as unique or... well, strange as it really should have been, but it's still a funny, visually astounding and damn entertaining addition to Marvel's Phase 3, with a superb cast on top of their game. It's going to be very interesting to see how Cumberbatch's Sorcerer Supreme - and all of the magic and mysticism he brings with him - are integrated into the MCU going forward.

Overall Rating: 3.5/5.0 stars

He gave it a 4.0 initially, but then in the comments pointed out he wanted to give it 3.5 but the site system doesn't allow for half points.

absolutely. i stopped smoking weed, but if you still do, some great kush, shrooms, or acid would be perfect for this movie. i have two friends now who said they saw this movie while sober and while high, and the experience while high is amazing.

Boom! Now you know it is a hit.

Benedict Cumberbatch To Host Saturday Night Live

In less than two weeks, Doctor Strange will finally hit theaters, and the only people who are more excited for its premiere than fans is the cast itself. Actor such as Benedict Cumberbatch and Tilda Swinton will star in the mystical superhero blockbuster, and they’ve been making promotional rounds for the film as of late. And, soon, Cumberbatch will take on a whole other kind of press junket when he hosts Saturday Night Live on November 5.

NBC recently confirmed the actor’s involvement via Twitter. The network told fans to mark their calendars as Cumberbatch will host the acclaimed comedy show while Solange acts as the episode’s musical guest. The British actor will kick off the fifth episode of Season 42. Other actors such as Margot Robbie, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Blunt, and Tom Hanks have already hosted episodes this season. Musical guests such as The Weeknd, Twenty One Pilots, Bruno Mars, and Lady Gaga have also performed on Season 42 since its debut earlier this month.
