Suicide Squad movie coming

Is anyone else here hoping it beats BvS domestically? Looks like there's a chance... if it can stay in those theaters for a few more weeks....
isn't it pulling in around a million a week right now? if so, it won't, but still, it's close enough. there's no way this movie should be this close to BvS.

The critic response to BvS definitely did its damage. Add to this not releasing The Ultimate Edition to theaters which would have eased the concerns about the editing. Meanwhile, the reaction to Suicide Squad is stunning. Especially with a combination of horrible critic responses and then the editing.

Guess the market really wanted something different, which seems to be the theme for 2016 when you consider how this and Deadpool went over when compared to the results of the huge movies that should have gone much higher. Civil War just gets a pass because it broke a billion dollars. For all those characters and years of buildup bringing them all together like that, Cap 3 should have passed up at Iron Man 3 and Age of Ultron.

I agree about Civil War but it probably did as well as it could because it was more of the same --- it didn't have the "Wow" factor of Avengers or even The Dark Knight.

But all things being equal maybe we _shouldn't_ be surprised that both Deadpool and Suicide Squad were blockbusters, given how popular Deadpool and Harley Quinn are as cult characters.

While I don't think there are enough comic book fans to move the needle on their own, their probably are enough combined comics / fantasy / cosplay fans for the first "appropriate" treatment of those two massively popular characters.

Suicide Squad Soundtrack Goes Gold

The wildly popular soundtrack just received a Gold Certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), and it looks like the squad is celebrating.

Kev Weaver, the executive vice president at Atlantic Records, posted a photo to Instagram to commemorate the milestone. He took a screenshot of an email announcing the golden accomplishment that reads, “Congratulations, guys!! Suicide Squad: The Album is officially RIAA Gold!”

Margot Robbie To Host SNL Season 42 Premiere

margot-robbie-snl-201358.jpg

SNL will be kicking its 42nd season off with a bang, as it's enlisted Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn) to host the season premiere alongside musical guest The Weeknd.

SNL typically tries to get actors and celebrities that are experiencing some momentum in their careers, and Margot Robbie is certainly in that category (via TV Line). Robbie received much-deserved praise for her portrayal of Harley Quinn in the David Ayer-directed Suicide Squad, and before that she delivered a fantastic performance in Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

She's currently in the early stages of development on a Quinn spinoff movie, which is rumored to feature other heroes and villains from the DC Universe like Batgirl and the Birds of Prey. She's also just recently signed a deal with Warner Bros., giving the studio first dibs on future projects.

SNL returns to NBC on October 1st.

Based on current estimates for this weekend, Suicide Squad just jumped to 4.2X revenue ratio.

And that's only with certain countries being updated. Japan is still reflecting 9/18 at this time. So I expect that number to go up slightly.

Looks like this is going to be it for this weekend. Though the Japanese box office total is still behind.

Go behind-the-scenes of the first ‘Suicide Squad’ image

It feels like it was only yesterday when we got the first official group shot from Suicide Squad. It was actually May 2015, and today set photographer Clay Enos gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of that photo.

It shouldn’t be long before the Suicide Squad Blu-ray is announced. If Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is anything to go by, you can bet Clay Enos will be releasing never-before-scene shots from Suicide Squad to help promote it!

Very sweet. I wonder if they can top $1B worldwide with a better story next time? (thumbs u

It was interesting to see the Funko Pop booth beside us sell out of all of their Suicide Squad exclusives by mid-Saturday, and most of the regular ones by the end of the show. Is there any way to compare the merchandise revenues of SS vs. BvS?

Amazing what this could be with a much stronger -script. But also wild the amount it is a making with what it had.

Global Licensing stats do not always publicly break out a given line of products by movie theme. Behind-the-scenes, most probably they do. But if you go to the Suicide Squad twitter account, multiple people post their Funko figure purchases worldwide. Lately its been plenty of Japanese members.
