Not as rare as the others, yeah, but it has to be said the 1.5 had great eye appeal for the grade and that the grade/price spreads are small - there are other examples I will point out.

 

Besides, 2 data points really doesn't make a trend IMO, it just makes two data points - up down or indifferent

Its so hard to draw meaningful comparisons (kind of why I starte the thread) ; the exchange rate between USD and CDN is going to be a major factor here and it has shifted a lot (negatively from the Cdn POV) since 2014, and there is so much quality and choice this time too.

Thanks for posting these I was upset I missed out on the Lighting I really wanted that one but wasn't available when it went off the block!! I'm not starting collecting these yet that's all I need I just really dug that one and that Speed Savage as well

And yeah, I don't think the forex can be ignored; I know I was certainly thinking about it as I was bidding.

 

To put it another way, when the 6.5 nelvana sold for roughly 14k, that was roughly 14k Cdn. This latest sale of the 5.0 is about 20k Cdn.

 

I don't think the books track in USD because the great majority of the collectors are Cdn. I also don't think they track purely in Cdn $ because we can consign other books, for example, to raise USD funds, and because there might be a few US based collectors. So it would track to something in between. We need a third currency based on whites
