board's opinion please...

I was shopping around my AF15 and got a trade offer.

I've decided to hold on to the book, as I really like it.

Curious to get the board's thoughts on the trade.

I was offering...

AF15 (pics attached)

Avengers 55, cgc 9.6, white pages

Avengers 2, cgc 9.0 cr/ow pages

I was asking for

Daredevil 1, cgc 9.4

He said no and wanted my books, plus $2500

Thoughts and opinions...?

The poor thing was obviously "stan-lee'd".

That kinda accounts for the 2500 imho.

that 3.0 is nice but hard to see how it got that grade with a missing upper right front corner.

I hear what you are saying. Sent it to ccs once to see if anything could be done and they said no. Matt said if not for the corner missing, it was an easy 4.0 plus. I like it .

I do feel like that picture has been posted a lot elsewhere...not positive, just seems like it pops up for sale quite often.

I'm a big Everett fan. But really, DD #1??

Doubtful with that top edge and right corner. Very nice for the grade though.

I wondered this as well. Tough to say without seeing the book in hand but it is possible.

If it doesn't, it's still a very good looking 6.5 (call it a 6.75) copy and bidding generally factors in the book as well as the technical grade.

Both the 5.0 and the 6.5 copies were both attractive for the grade.

.... people will often buy a slabbed book that looks nicer than the grade and resubmit it in hopes of a higher (and more valuable...) grade. GOD BLESS...

Grader notes had a bend and a few creases on the 6.5 that did not break color. Press and rebsubmit? The 5.0 probably at its max grade? But who knows?

Yes, it would appear that a signature increases the value of an otherwise worthless common drek book.

When it comes to a true vintage collectible comic book, however, a signature is probably treated more like a clear and visual defect by the marketplace.

Probably one of the reasons why the signed 8.5 copy of AF 15 in the most recent HA auction managed to sell for only something like more than a $35K discount to the condition guide price.
