In looking back, I guess the reason I enjoyed DETECTIVE COMICS so much was

that in addition to BATMAN you also had AIR WAVE, SLAM BRADLEY and BOY

COMMANDOS.

HOP HARRIGAN was one of my favorites both on the radio and

also in ALL-AMERICAN COMICS...in issue #99 it was a surprise to

read about JOHNNY THUNDER in a Western Feature...but I didn't

realize that it was the last HOP HARRIGAN.

I can't imagine what it was like during the end of the Golden Age when characters just disappeared without a trace, with no real warning to the readers.

From the dialog in the last panel, it seems as if Hop didn't realize it was his last appearance either.

From the last page of MUTT & JEFF #19 (Fall 1945)

There is no other mention of HOP HARRIGAN in the book.

These "JUST ANOTHER STORY" features in COMIC CAVALCADE were always

very different from the other regular contents.

When I picked this up I didn't know it was the first issue...I don't remember

ever seeing a copy of MILITARY COMICS on the newsstand.

Is there any connection between today's HARLEY QUINN and the Golden Age

"THE HARLEQUIN" besides the similar names?

Yeah, you all knew that already but it gives me an excuse to post one of the covers I have stored on Flickr

and a splash from Military 1 courtesy of Comic Books Plus...

On these boards I've seen Single Pages that are collectable...would this one from my

remainder copy of DETECTIVE #168 be of as much or more value than the entire book?

For a single page to matter it's gotta be a big GA key. Great a book as that is I don't think it's big enough for that type of thing
