Fiction house anyone?

Fight #41 is a book I'd wondered about for a long time - was it meant to have a red background or not? Finally, confirmation.

Hi Walter! Here is The Rockford I've just sold for comparison:

 

 

 

It's been with me for nigh on 20 years, and in all that time I hadn't seen one with better colors until now.

 

 

Comparing the two, for the first time it occurs to me that color variation might be to do with the frequency with which the plates were re- inked. Maybe that's an obvious thought - just not one I've heard. Until now I'd imagined that colors weakened over the course of an entire print run. But if they printed a batch of covers without re-inking it could explain the dramatic variations we see... Thoughts anyone?

... there were also a large amount of books that were displayed and sold outdoors in those days.... in direct sunlight. GOD BLESS...

Fiction House color variation discussion?

I have to post this again :

And here is my 7.0 which has rather strong colors:

Print run had something to do with the deep and light colors and of course sunlight.So many shades exist on Fiction House books some for the better and some for the worst.Another example!

My poor man's copies of the two books we are discussing above. Wish I had those reds on my Fight 41.

Three good ones showed up today. First copies of Fight 44 and Rangers 27 and an upgrade for my Rangers 31 one of my all-time favorite covers. Sorry not scans- took at home.

....you outbid me on the Fight 44......... that's a pretty one .....hard to argue with a cover like that and art inside by Baker and Renee.... GOD BLESS....
