DC's Legends of Tomorrow Ads Two Mystery Heroes

DC's Legends of Tomorrow will add a pair of new characters to its Season Two roster, both of whom sound like DC Comics superheroes, per a casting call reported at TVLine.

The characters, being touted as series regulars for next year, show that World War II (or at least that time period) will be a key part of the second season, possibly throwing fuel on the fire of rumors that Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern, will be the caped mystery hero who appears at the end of Season One.

"A male in his late-20s to mid-30s is being sought to play a guy who grew up in the shadow of his World War II hero grandfather and has used a Han Solo-like facade to conceal his insecurity — until, that is, the development of super powers enables him to love up to his family legacy."

And "the female member of an elite paramilitary team living in the 1940s. An African-American, she is scrutinized in her time for both her gender and race and thus has worked twice as hard to be a perfect soldier. That said, she blames herself for — and aims to avenge — the death of a team member for whom she had repressed feelings."

Also, Vandal Savage has a daughter now? What crapp.

Scandal Savage from Villains United/Secret Six ring any bells?

*watches the monkeys scramble to check their boxes for Villains United #1... wonder if they'll know the difference between the prints, or mistakenly pull the one-shot instead...*

And shouldn't these so called Time Masters be having a word with the Flash?

Presumably, they know what he's going to do in his lifetime, and they're fine with it. He is kinda important to DC.

Does anyone watch this show and think "Immortus is cooler"?

But he's changing the timeline - they don't like that.

The Time Masters aren't the only ones dabbling in time......so they're not the be-all end-all of the subject.....Metron on the other hand....if he's not cool with something, you're sure to know about it.

I'm hoping we're going to see him pop up sooner or later.

Who is Rex Tyler, AKA Hourman?

So...who is Rex Tyler?

He's a Golden Age superhero better known as Hourman.

Tyler has a number of superhuman abilities, like enhanced strength, reflexes, and healing -- but only for an hour at a time. His abilities are given to him by Miraclo, a drug he designed himself.

There is an Hourman legacy including Rex's son Rick and an android from the 853rd Century programmed to act as a member of the Tyler family. The android, at a point in the past, presented Rex with an hourglass infused with tachyons -- time in its most basic form -- and that hourglass would become part of both his and Rick's costumes. Said hourglass has been seen on board the Waverider on previous episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

In late 2013, The CW was developing a TV series based on Hourman, but in that case he had the psychic ability to see an hour into the future and would use that ability to prevent crimes before they happened.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Boss Discusses The Introduction Of Hourman And Plans For The Justice Society Of America

"With his final words in the finale, he planted a pretty deep flag about where we're headed in season two, which is not just introducing Hourman but introducing his teammates in the Justice Society of America," executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "For comic book fans, everyone knows the Justice Society is really the precursor to the Justice League, so it's a pretty big move in our DC universe here on TV."

Of course, a combination of this team of Legends AND the Justice Society of America means that we'll need a huge villain for season two of Legends of Tomorrow, but Guggenheim confirmed that it's not who you're thinking. "The season two big bad is actually not going to be the [alien race of] Thanagarians. It's going to be something else entirely. All I'll really say about the nemesis in season two is Vandal Savage looks like a walk in the park compared to what the Legends will be facing. This will be a much, much bigger threat. I'm going to leave it at that because when we do reveal it, it's going to be pretty big. People will be asking, 'Vandal who?' once they get the full picture of what our team is up against. It's going to be way bigger than what you can even imagine, I can guarantee it."

Damnit, I should not have read this thread before watching the finale with my kids. We have to PVR it and catch up on weekends due to their sports every weeknight.

On another note, this is awesome news!
