[quoteI agree. Archie 10 is not a tough book to find and is my least favorite early cover, but you never see 1-13 in high grade. It was most likely just a bidding war. Early Archies are hot and even later issues up tp 50 if they are in vg+ or better do pretty well. ]
Early this summer I picked up an Archie 2 in FN. It was at a local auction and I was very lucky to get it.
A dealer at my local show had an Archie 3 in 7.0, unslabbed. Other than these two books, I rarely see early Archies above 6.0.

To other Archie collectors: Regarding this ebay auction for Roly Poly 12, I am curious if other Archie collectors believe that this cover is intended to be Archie, Jughead and the girls? I've seen this described on more than one occasion as being the Archie characters. I don't believe they are but wanted to know what others think.
There were too many truly bizarre pieces of Archie related art in the early-mid'40s for me to rule it out as a possibility (see Archie #10 cover above for example). But I really don't know for sure either way

Quote: I think that this particular sale is an abberation (although I hope it isn't ). There were only 2 bidders willing to go over $800 on it (which is about where I expected it to sell). That being said, because there are so few slabbed Archies (and 7.0 is pretty HG at that), it's not totally surprising that 2 bidders would be interested in the book at the $1500 level.
Archie #10 is not a particularly tough book to find, although it's pretty rare to find one at F/VF or better.
Guys - if anyone can find me Archies under #10 - I'll buy them all in any grade!
$810 for a low grade Archie #3 seems pretty robust to me. It also looks like it would have gone higher had anyone else been interested in it at that level. LINK
