I should've bought multiple copies of this book back then. Had so many opportunities to buy 9.8's for like $350 back then doh!

Yep. CGC 9.8 Harbinger #1 was $350 in March 2015. They're about $700 now. Doubled in six months.

CGC 9.8 Batman Adventures #12 was $1,700 in March 2015. They're about $1,700 now.

Valiant certainly equals garbage.

Do people dress up like Harbinger at comic cons?

I see many girls with the same body shape of Zeppelin at comic cons.

"Zeppelin" was a somewhat cruel nickname in the 1990s Harbinger stories for Zephyr, whose name was Faith Herbert.

She's still an important character in the Valiant books... a press release came out about her this week:

http://www.comicbookresources.com/article/exclusive-valiant-puts-faith-in-houser-portelas-hands-in-january

Her first appearance (and the other primary Harbinger "kids") is Harbinger #1 (1992).

Staying on topic, it's easy to see Faith/Zephyr as the "anti-Harley"... she's overweight, super friendly and positive, and she thinks the best of everyone.

You mean doubled since the movie deal announcements, right? :)

Still got a long way to go before hitting those 2008-2009 prices

Why not come up with a new name....

Like...... "2003 - current: The New Age".. or something else.

I started this thread in the copper section, and it got moved to the modern wasteland for whatever reason. As discussed a million times over in copper, the period after 1992 has been affectionately called the chromium age, or what I call the dark age. From what I read, the consensus is that the "modern" age really began with Ultimate Spider-Man.

The CGC census for 9.8 has multiplied about about 800% since those 2008-2009 prices. As a result of the supply increase, the cost to own a 9.8 has gone down about 65%.

From a "market cap" standpoint, existing CGC 9.8 copies of Harbinger #1 went from about $40,000 total to about $100,000 total. Individual copy prices haven't increased due the supply increase, but the "collective value" is 250% of 2008-2009.

The movie announcement basically doubled the "collective value" from $50,000 to $100,000 overnight.

The "total market value" of all CGC 9.8 copies of Batman Adventures #12, by year:

2011 - 35 copies, $150 value = $5,250

2012 - 65 copies, $250 value = $16,250

2013 - 100 copies, $700 value = $70,000

2014 - 200 copies, $800 value = $160,000

2015 - 347 copies, $1,800 value = $624,600

I wish we could rename the 90's the garbage age or Valiant age haha

Good call on equating Valiant with garbage... I know this is totally worthless:

1008640015_1200.jpg

I use them as coasters. :whatev:

Jesus Christ dude! doh!

Garbage age I obviously meant everything else besides Valiant hence why I said OR!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Harbinger #1 I owned probably now over the years 40 copies and got 20 CGC 9.8's.

Who do you think you got your last two CGC 9.8 GPA sales from? hmmmm I wonder.

You do realize what my old screen name was right?

Only reason I stayed with comics in the 1990's was because of Valiant.

However Harbinger #1 is 110% a coaster book compared to Bat 12.

Unless Harbinger gets on the silver screen expect Harbinger #1 to come back to $300-400 in CGC 9.8. That book has really tanked over the years from it early CGC 9.8's.

I guess we all gotta start somewhere. And technically I started with nothing, so i'll take this for sure for a first step (especially in the tight grading period it appears to be right now).
