Chris Pine to play Steve Trevor opposite Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman

Long rumoured to be in talks for the role of Steve Trevor in WONDER WOMAN, it looks like we can finally officially attach Chris Pine's name to the upcoming DC film. The Wrap reports that Chris Pine has just closed a multi-picture deal, which includes options for future sequels, to star alongside Gal Gadot in WONDER WOMAN.

The plot of WONDER WOMAN is still unknown but The Wrap's sources say that Steve Trevor will be no mere romantic interest to Gal Gadot's Diana Prince as Chris Pine will have plenty of opportunities to show off his own action prowess. In the character's original comic origin, Steve Trevor was an intelligence officer during WWII whose plane crashed on Paradise Island. Trevor was later found and nursed back to health by Diana and the two found themselves falling in love. Heavens, that's just adorable.

Wonder Woman Confirmed to Start Filming This Fall in London

DC Expanded Universe producer Deborah Snyder, confirms during her interview with Empire Magazine something that has been floating around for some time now, but has never been officially confirmed and that is that Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Chris Pine (Steve Trevor) will in fact start production this Fall and it’ll be filmed in London, England.

"Logistically it is staggering. As Batman V Superman gains its coat of special effects, and the various stages of editing, scoring, grading and sound mixing are completed, Deborah Snyder, along with Roven is watching over a sandbox that stretches around the world. Jenkins is in London prepping Wonder Woman, which will shoot there this autumn."

Oscar Winning VFX Supervisor Joins WONDER WOMAN Team

The trade reports that Bill Westenhofer is going to serve as the VFX Supervisor, and while this normally wouldn't be a major piece of news, his past credits make this worth getting excited over. Westenhofer won Oscars for his work on Life of Pi and The Golden Compass, and was also nominated for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He's currently hard at work on Duncan Jones' Warcraft too.

10 Facts You Need to Know About Wonder Woman

She’s the Daughter of Zeus

As one of the longest running running comic book heroes, Wonder Woman’s continuity has gone through several changes over the years. For a long time, her origin story remained the same: her mother formed her out of clay and she was brought to life by the Greek gods, which meant she had no father. Wonder Woman’s superpowers were a result of her blessings from the Gods, including superhuman strength from Demeter (Goddess of the Earth) and super speed from Hermes (God of Messengers).

But the origin story was changed significantly when Brian Azzarello rebooted the character as part of DC’s recent New 52 relaunch. In the New 52 reboot, Wonder Woman is actually the daughter of Zeus – King of the Gods. A Batman V Superman producer has said that the DC movie universe will follow the new origin.

I did not know that.

New Rumor Involving Wonder Woman's Timeline

More rumors concerning the time period the Wonder Woman movie’s setting are being reported by Heroic Hollywood. Where previous reports have suggested that the film will take place during the 1920s, the latest suggests the film will go back even further, with the first half taking place during World War I.

The second half of the film will then jump to the modern day, though they don’t specify if we’ll see Diana – rumored to be about 200 years old in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice – first entering the world of man, or if we’ll pick up after the events of her Dawn of Justice film debut.
