And for our foreign friends...a glimpse at one of my UOMO RAGNO (1st series, ed. Corno) Collections...(This one is composed by VF/NM to NM+ books only)

This series lasted from 1970 to 1981, and saw 283 issues printed.

For us it has a very important hystorical importance because it contains the very first Spidey appearances in Italy...in italian language!

In my pics you can see the different ways the stickers were attached to the books and some of the posters.

Ciao!

Federico

This is a crown collection Federico! In this thread we appreciate all things Foreign. Thanks for taking time to share. I only collect Spanish comics at this time, but if I had lots of money I would certainly chase Italian.

I just won this book in an online auction for the massive amount of $2.00. Of course by the time they shipped it to me, this $2.00 comic quickly turned into $20.00

I don't think anyone else realized it was the foreign variant of Fantastic Four #26 (printed in March 1971).

Spanish I take it? I believe it's from Brazil.

This is the first superhero from Marvel's marvel age of comics published in Italy, Fantastic Four 1, in this Linus annual:

Prior to this comic, a few western were published in 1959 but were short lived.

After this one, publication stopped until Corno got the rights and began publishing again Marvel superheros starting 1970

Just returned from Copenhagen with the Danish reprint of Green Arrow #1, which appeared in their Superman #391:

Very nice pick up. It is common for foreign publishers to run a mainline title like Superman or Spiderman and carry multiple titles published on weekly frequency. It also makes for a fun challenge to track down hunting key issues.

Here is a pic of some prize Silver age material from Mexico. These particular issues are extremely rare. I feel very fortunate to have these in my collection. It can take months or years to locate a copy. The irony is that print runs on the Spanish material was supposed to be larger that circulation of US editions, but given the environment they were sold and lack of collecting and storage materials, few survived.

It was more common in the past, although it’s still done as our books (at least I am speaking for Italy) would be unusual if less than 48 pages each.

The new Ms. Marvel, for example, is published on the pages of the italian Avengers title.

This has to be the epitome of mixing titles as it mixes publishers!!! MLJ, Timely, DC, Fawcett etc !!! Crazy and the indica would suggest licensed These books are part of my collection, the cover doesnt match the pics of interior, but they are more or less the same.

As a new foreign variant collector, I enjoyed the article on page one. I fall into the OCD category. Searching out Amazing Spider-Man 194 variants is becoming a new addiction.

Welcome to the asylum. Show us some pics of your treasure finds!
