This issue hit the stands a few months after the FIRST WTC attack on February 26, 1993.

That attack only killed 6 people, so we the citizens and the US government quickly forgot about it and those that had vowed to kill us.

If we had only taken these homicidal maniacs more seriously then, rather than let it fester for another 8 years...

Cool artifact by an artist who doesn't do enough comic work these days.
But don't get too excited - it's a reference to the Feb. 1993 Bombing of the World Trade Center - not a prescient vision.

looks a lot like Mr. Mazz was channelling Gilbert Hernandez to me, not that there aren't worse artists to channel

Of course there's the pilot episode of The Lone Gunmen which featured a plot to fly a jumbo jet into the World Trade Center. The episode first aired in January of 2001.

Now that is pretty creepy to watch.

I flew a plain into the WTC back in 1986, But it was in Microsoft Flight, and I was only trying to pilot a tiny plane BETWEEN them! I couldnt believe how hard it was to slip through because everything moves so slowly unto you get near the buildings... then its far too late to correct your path.

This was in response to that "Charles Atlas" takeoff on the recent Fortune magazine cover.

Those biz mags have a long and plentiful history of "Liechtenstein-esque" (sp) covers.
Especially the "hip" biz journal: Forbes. Lots of droll romance iconography/clipart.
The thing is, is that it's so easy to duplicate. Not Xerox, but imitate/copy. dosen't cost much. The mailroom guy could reproduce it and feel lucky/privaleged to be published.
