Always wondered why DC used those 4-panel reprints of MUTT & JEFF

as fillers in so many of their titles along with publishing over 100 issues

of MUTT & JEFF Comics containing reprints of both the daily strips and

Sunday strips. I don't remember any other reprinted material in DC Comics

...but there could have been.

As a kid, comics like TIP-TOP, ACE, SUPER and KING were a great way

to read about past adventures of the characters I was currently reading in

the daily newspaper.

Probably a tribute to their popularity. Unfortunately, I would say they've just about slipped out of public consciousness. Wasn't too long ago that it was fairly common to refer to two guys who were mismatched in height as a Mutt and Jeff. I would guess that most people wouldn't understand the reference these days.

These two guys may have pre-dated your collection but Minute Man is still easy to get on the market. Early Detective comics with the Crimson Avenger are difficult to find unless you have deep pockets. Got any Marty?

No MINUTE MAN or CRIMSON AVENGER...earliest MASTER COMIC is #65 and

earliest DETECTIVE COMIC is #104...missed out on both of them.

The reference to CRIMSON AVENGER and MINUTE MAN reminded me of all

the back-up features in comics during the mid forties, like COMMANDO YANK,

PHANTOM EAGLE and MR. SCARLET & PINKY all who backed-up MARY MARVEL

in WOW COMICS.

This is one of my favorite MMC covers. I'm not sure what run I'm going after once I complete my All Select run but the MMC war covers are so :cloud9:

Nice book, Marty!
