I have a slight change of rules to announce for this thread. Lets expand it to include an occasional splash page.

Alright then!

Here's a scan of the cover of Green Lantern 28:

A very solid cover, but I think the concept of the splash page was even better:

I think the splash page concept of Green Lantern being thrown back for a loop toward the viewer would have made an even better cover than the actual one used. Julius Schwartz and Gil Kane evidently came around to sharing my opinion as the same concept was soon used for the cover of Green Lantern 33:

Excellent. :applause: It's a travesty that Dr. Light was so seldom seen. :juggle:

Editor Julius Schwartz rips off his own Mystery in Space title here:

Julius Schwartz was hardly the only editor to recycle previously used cover concepts. Here Jack Schiff recycled a Rip Hunter cover for another of his titles:

And here again he basically duplicated a cover of his Blackhawk title for Detective Comics:

Terrific finds Hepcat. :cloud9:

It's interesting that Catman had "CM" initials on his chest in the Detective book, that were not present in his earlier Blackhawk appearance. One question though, how did he know how many lives Batman had? hm

That's not the same Cat-Man character in both comics though.

(shrug)

On the Blackhawk cover, Catman appears to be wearing the Golden Age Sandman's costume, only with little cat ears glued to it.

Yes, that it is. Good eye!

Irv Novick was the cover artist for #11 and #15 while Ross Andru and Mike Esposito did the honours for #13.

???

Overall though the artists I like the best for DC's war comics are Joe Kubert and Russ Heath.

Bumping this thread for a 2 1/2 year old post! ( see page 4)

Ran across this SF pulp, cover dated July 1940

And 21 years later:

Same composition? Check. Bug eyes? Check. Spiky head? Check. Smoking tugboat? Check. Same hexagonal scales, fer cryin' out loud? Check!

The second Action Comics cover from 1966 reminded me so much of the first one from 1962 that I thought I'd already scanned the second cover because I'd scanned the first one some five years ago!
