Here's a Western from a Detective comic... 1948's Kerry Drake Detective Cases #15

Art by Bob Powell

Fantastic. boy when Powell was good, he was really good. The mini-splash panel on the first page, and the two bottom panels on the second page - OMG.

This Powell guy, was he any good?

Thanks for posting the complete OA. I pick up Kerry Drake readers when I find them cheap and have enjoyed the Kitty Carson back up feature that ran in the title for a while.

Here's the complete run of a title I never heard of until I saw tricolorbrian's post of #1 a while back. I was happy to be able to find all three issues but still need to upgrade my beat #2.

#1 and #2 are your typical western fare but #3 was a great surprise.

#3 had good art and stories throughout, highlighted by the opening Harry Anderson story (see splash below).

I would love for someone to put together an Anderson hard back collection.

I'd like to see that also. Heck, I'd even be happy with a feature in Alter Ego.

Maybe one of you could start a thread right here... :wishluck:

If you do, I have a few things to throw in...

I remember you posting some pages from that Cities Service book a few years ago.

I think it's getting cooler with age.

Trail Colt #2. Ingels cover with L.B. Cole and (2) Whitney stories.

that's some kinda sweet pard

and speaking of fast draws, apparently Maneely was so fast he was called "Joe Money"

"Fast draws"...that's a good one.

I didn't really know much about Maneely (or how fast he was) until reading Alter Ego #28 a few months ago.

The Maneely feature is a great read. What a shame he died so young.

Thanks and I like the splash better also. I think he may have accidentally knocked his hat off with his whip on the cover.
