Graded !!! but I'm a little bummed/concerned. I had hoped to have the tag for my Don Winslow of the Navy #47 reflect that it is the first appearance of Singapore Sal. but no notes on it :(

 

Also no Schomburg listed on the Black Terror #12 is a bit odd

Since I have never requested a note be put on the tag before ,I can't really tell if its going to make it in the tag from this... can you?

From what I understand (and you can scroll up earlier to see my noob-ishness), nothing at this point is set in stone, least of all any of the comments.

 

I sent in 4 decent first appearance comics and 0 of them had anything in the comments section.

Just got my modern slow track submission back.

 

They said it was received October 1, 2014. Shipped safe on December 11, 2014.

 

48 Business days. 47 if you're generous and don't count the ship date. Not great, but pretty much in line with my expectations.

Overall it was to bad of a turn around. "Much better than I had expected"

Notes appear to have made it on the books for the #47 "1st appearance of Singapore Sal " and the Schomburg notes made it on both Nedor books :)

 

I'm very happy with the grades and as Always I found out I grade way to hard on books. I really need to get better at that :)

OK, I got antsy and called up the CGC's customer service, asking about my order.

 

They received them on November 11th, sitting at verified right now. The girl claimed they would be going for grading in the next two weeks, but IDK how she can know that. IOW, I am taking that with a grain of salt.

 

When I asked for people to guess when I'd get them back, someone said January 20th. I think they are going to be really close with their guess.

 

6 moderns, USPS return shipping, the total was $150 - $25 per book, average. I am beginning to think maybe the $10 extra ber book would have been worth it for Fast Track.

The problem you guys are not understanding is they are not running behind as much as this is their new/current turn around times so just plan accordingly.

 

It has been 2 years of this now.

 

More than likely CGC will never go back to the way the turnaround times were.

 

I handed CGC a 30 book modern invoice at the end of September. By the time the books are pressed, graded, and back in possession again it will be January. However I understood that when I handed them off.

On a side note so much for all you people sending your books to the other grading company. :eyeroll:

 

 

 

 

 

The BEST chance the 'other' company had was to beat CGC at turnaround times. But that was also the HARDEST thing to plan for at the very beginning, you can't afford to overstaff when you're already losing money for the first year (or two) anyways, plus there's so many things to deal with at the start of a company, turnaround times are probably the hardest thing to estimate.

 

And ironically, the more popular you are initially (yay!), the slower your turnaround times will be initially (boo!), which would ironically hurt them in the long run, as people start thinking it makes more sense to go with the more trusted, established company if turnaround times are the same and costs are pretty much the same.

I think they may screw up on one book.

I sent a 2nd print Titan UK edition of The Killing Joke. They have it listed as 3rd DC UK edition.

Happy with 3 of the grades. Very puzzled by the 4th one. Was expecting at least 9.2-9.4, got 7.5. I know I didn't miss that much wrong with the book. Guess I'll wait and see.

And actually it was a 1st printing Orange logo, not a 2nd print. I miss typed that in my previous post.

 

The 4th grade I was not happy with, I now see why it got the grade it got. It has a crease on the back, that looks like it was made by a thumb opening the book and the appears to be about a 1/2" spine split. I know these were not there when I sent them in, but, I don't have a back scan of the book to prove otherwise. Oh well, it is still the highest graded on the census and the front cover presents very nice.. I guess I should be happy with that.
