Re: WW #1 - some interesting figures on GPA, I hadn't noticed - a 5.0 sold in Feb-20-2014 for $8,066, and then one in 5.5 sold in Sep-25-2014 for $24,000. That's quite a leap! The 5.0 had CR/OW pages and the 5.5 OW/W but I don't think the pages could have made that much difference in price. And God knows what private sales there have been.

This book's on the rise and gaining momentum.

. . . to continue on the topic of the increasing interest in WW, this eBay auction of a very well-loved WW #1 closed at $5600 :o

GPA has books in 4.5 at that price level.

There was a #7 in the sale as well - that one may have been a bargain:

I read an article in a recent Smithsonian magazine on the creation of Wonder Woman last night. Pretty interesting. Sounds like there is a new book out or coming out soon. I'll have to pick that up; fascinating stuff with lots of early DC history intertwined.

Interesting but much detail left out. Wonder if those are all comics on the shelves?

Yes- really limited information on Marston and his life. I did not know that his wife was a law school graduate and "career woman."

I was the underbidder on the WW 1

I watched it very closely as well, but I thought the price was pretty lofty for such a low grade book.

Same here, my $1800 bid didnt come close :roflmao:

I assumed a new WW#1 in the wild was going to make bidding shoot through the roof, and sure enough.

Try to check out the Smithsonian article, it goes into details on his life with his wife and another woman with whom he had an open family arrangement. Crazy stuff.
