Question: When did Unexpected officially transition into the new horror format? IIRC it was #109?

The title went from "Tales Of The Unexpected" to "the Unexpected" at #105, and then to "Have You The Nerve To Face The Unexpected" at #107. For me though, I'm starting the collection from #110, as that's when the logo changed, to a distinctly more horror-y one.

For me, I start with issue 104. Not truly all horror but I like it because it's the start of the V shaped logo treatment and is a significant cover style change from the earlier sci-fi covers. The all horror/supernatural stories I believe start at around issue 108.

How's everyone doing? Looks like you've just seen a ghost!

Hey Brother. Where have you been hiding?

I've just been busy. Couldn't find my remaining issues and got tired of looking. Also got tired of endlessly upgrading my books when CGC's standard started to fall.

No idea how it is these days or anything. I didn't even know my Weird War Tales set won Bronze this year until I received the plaque a few weeks ago. :)

I do miss it here, maybe once I finish spending $20k on my house on various projects I'll be back to wrap it all up!

I hope everyone here is doing great. I see a few new "faces" and that always makes me smile.

Speaking of horror, I'm playing the new game "The Evil Within" and loving every minute of it.

Good to hear from you.

I just picked up "Evil Within" as well and haven't had the chance as of yet to play.

I've been working on Unexpecteds and that's about it.

This is disconcerting to me as well, the only upside is that our 9.0s and 9.2s may really be 9.4s and 9.6s in disguise! You would think the higher prices might have brought some fresh books to market, but instead I think they kind of caused the genre to stagnate...and lower demand = lower prices.

This is the rarely seen alternate cover to Unexpected 201.

Sadly, I lost my copy of this one. But I remember reading it at a Meijer Thrifty Acres on the rack while waiting for my mother. I found it so creepy I didn't want it. Years later, I remembered it and got a copy.

Well, isn't that part of the game? Have me waste $40+ per book to "possibly" upgrade them and bring them to a market that can't sustain my costs. Sounds like a great idea to me lol.

I've got kaboodles of raw books but don't really see the point to slab em. Maybe their minty freshness will smell good in my casket on my burial.

I've got a free year of "Premium" CGC services, so I guess I can submit and see.

What's the current grading standard du jour? Are we tight, loose, or just right? I'm comparing to the Steve era of grading.

Thanks. It is. I didn't really like the cover to issue 201, so I put a painting in its place. The origin of that creepy painting is a strange one. One day Darth Korgi challenged myself and two others (including himself) to create an image from the phrase "three balloons" and for some reason this idea popped into my head, so I painted it. Probably because I'd been reading a lot of 70s horror comics at the time (and still am).

Is that a Tabar original? Very creepy! :applause:
