That's news to me. I don't even remember Skywald. What did he do for Warren?

Sutton also did a bunch of stuff for the Warren and Skywald mags.

Vampirella #1 :acclaim: (plus various stories in Creepy and Eerie)

As far as Skywald, one of my favorite stories is "Hag of the Blood Basket" from Nightmare #4.

But this isn't the magazine forum. :(

Seventies Oddities Part 1

DC seemed to have gone through a period in the early mid-seventies in which they produced a number of 100 page books. I don't really remember these when they were coming out but I was pretty young at the time. I paid a lot closer attention to comics from 1975 onwards.

I found this comic in a store in the Orlando area for only three bucks! When I saw the water damage on the back, the slightly mangled spine, and smelled its moldy odor, I understood why. Still, I'm looking forward to reading it!

Seventies Oddities part 2

I got this comic recently. I love Nick Cardy's covers!

But other times it would be an add which had nothing at all to do with the comic. And the add would occur in the middle of the story. When reading them, it is easy to miss the page, because as soon as one sees an add, the general reaction is to turn the page. What made it even worse is that sometimes the story would be featured as only a tiny string of panels at the bottom or top of a page devoted mostly to an add. Marvel especially did this. It's easy to see why they discontinued the practice.

I thought this was only during the early seventies, but it was in comics at least twenty years older, as in this Tales of Horror from the early fifties:

I think I'm becoming addicted to them. Not every story is great, but who could say no to 100 pages of comics! They are almost like graphic novels.

Those are really cool. I had a chance last spring to pick up saw decent 100 pagers and a few other early 70s DC horror, but I passed. I've been kicking myself ever since.

Kaluta isn't my favorite, but that cover is awesome! And this is a comic I've not seen before.

That program book for that convention in '73 is just too cool! Looking at it I want that as well! Thanks for posting this stuff guys!

Cardy, Adams, Wrightson all tops in 70's horror.

Don't forget Kaluta...
