Just holding on to your books all the years is amazing MM (thumbs u

Thanks...it wasn't easy, but in the early years I had parents that put up with

my boxes of comics...and then for years the boxes sat in the dark...waiting

to once again see the light of day. Thanks for letting me share them.

During the year we lived in Bath, SC (1946-1947), I found comics on

the newsstand that I hadn't seen before, like this one...

With all the discussion about CAPTAIN MARVEL I decided to check

my collection of CAPTAIN MARVEL ADVENTURES that I bought off

the newsstand. The first one is a coverless copy of number 31 from

January 1944. The next one is number 34 from April 1944.

Wow - Oklahoma City, my hometown. I have never noticed/seen this one. I may have to look for a copy.

Nice again, MM.

I first saw"Captain Marvel and the Good Humor Man" on CKLW when the afternoon movie was hosted by Bill Kennedy.

Above photo, from Wiki, was from an episode of Superman that Bill appeared in.

George Reeves also appeared in the Captain Marvel movie.

I remember getting a CAPTAIN MARVEL "Magic Eyes" picture, a CAPTAIN MARVEL

Pennant, a CAPTAIN MARVEL Hat, CAPTAIN MARVEL Pins to put on the Hat and

a CAPTAIN MARVEL Pencil Holder that came FREE with certain items...I think I still

have one of the pins.

Ran across this in my collection...only have this one and #19.

Didn't find too many BLACK HOOD COMICS on the newsstand as I remember.

Happened to catch the movie when it ran on TCM about six months ago. The channel doesn't screen it often but it's one of the better "B" movies of its day and holds up surprisingly well due to the performances of Jack Carson and George Reeves who plays the heavy in one of his better pre-Superman/Clark Kent days.

Thoroughly enjoyable movie.

I remember when cereals and oatmeal boxes contained premium toys for kids. I had a Straight Arrow cup. Some boxes contained a miniature submarine.

I would have had a lot of comics too if my parents had purchased Wheaties. Unfortunately, I might have started eating them too late to get a copy of these Captain Marvel premiums. They always have tape damage.
