Forgive me for asking, but what is the big rush?

If I'm the buyer I want the item, and if I'm the seller I want the money. I don't want to be in this grey area where neither of those things are progressing towards fulfillment. The big rush? The "I'll get to it when I get to it" attitude doesn't mix well with business.

These are two different things. Obviously nobody wants to be in a deal with no clear expectation of a conclusion, I agree, but that is a different issue from someone not being able to wait 6 days for a book to ship. I'm assuming all parties are trying to meet their obligations. A book taking 6 days to ship from an otherwise reputable seller acting in good faith is not a crisis or even an inconvenience. Just my 2c

Wow I remember the old days.

Send 50 cents for a comic catalog (refunded on first order) and wait two to four weeks for it to arrive.

Pick a bunch of comics you wanted off their list (blind/no pics) and as many alternates in case they didn't have your first choices.

Send the money order and wait two to six weeks for your order to arrive.

Where can posthumously one star these clowns? :ohnoez:

but people apparently forget that with ebay (or here) it's very easy to pay (if you are at a computer) but shipping typically requires more work: Packing up order (or even going to buy more shipping supplies if you dont have enough) taking the order to the PO (if you dont do the online postage thing or dont do the pick up service).... that takes a little time, and again in many cases you are buying from a person not a business.

People that have jobs, and families, and schedules.... So 3, 5, even 7 days to get something shipped when you are dealing with a person, isn't unreasonable.

Would I like it sooner? Sure... but its a comic book, not medicine.

I pay ASAP but I do not expect for the item to be mailed immediately. It is easy for the buyer to pay these days as nothing more than a few clicks of the button need to be done. However, there is a lot more to packaging up an item and I do not want anyone rushing around on my account. It can wait, so long as I eventually get what I paid for.

In the old days, as was mentioned, you sent a check through the mail, waited for it to be cashed then hoped that the seller would send your item.

It was not better in the old days. I remember sending money orders as a wide-eyed young buck and receiving nothing back. The new system may be a bit rushed (and I agree that it kind of is) but it's far better now than what was in place before.

That would be more the payment method and buyer protection than the shipping time.

Neither does rushing around. There was absolutely nothing wrong with shipping every weekend. There used to be deals on eBay but those are quickly disappearing. It's become nothing more than an online store trying to push every seller to be retailer.

the irony being that all of those BIN and auction open = retail listings net them far less realized $$ than TRUE auctions, which always (usually) end in an ACTUAL sale.

Not to mention that there are plenty of retailers (non ebay) who take longer to ship. This "I have to have it NOW" attitude being enforced by ebay is pretty sad.

One of the main reasons I don't sell regularly on ebay is that fact that I can't ship every day. My primary job and family takes precedent. It has to.

That was definitely a drawback in the old days. However, there was much about ebay that was better back then.

+1

Follow your agreed upon terms for buying and selling, and no one should have any complaints. If you buy a $200 comic from me on Day 1 off of ebay, with payment expected up to 5 days later, and pay me 5 days later. I'm a happy seller.

I don't care if Day 1 you had $2.50 in your bank account, Day 2 you got your paycheck for $100, Day 3 you flew to Monaco, Day 4 you gambled at the casino, turned your $102.50 into $17M, Day 5 you flew to Vegas and spent on your money a huge illicit party and punched Mike Tyson and Celine Dion in the face, and in a drug-filled haze clicked your paypal on a stolen iphone to pay me with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Likewise I don't care how long it takes to ship out as long you ship out within the agreed upon terms, whether its next day, 3 days, 5 days, whatever we agreed upon. I typically put 5 business days in my ebay listings, but its almost always sooner (95% of the time).

As for this specific case, I'd be miffed if I was phoking too, but I don't think a neg is warranted, although I'd be hesitant to buy from the seller again. I might toss in a neutral if they started berating me via pm or something.

Crassus is entirely right.

I always try to ship within a matter of few days when I get paid: if possible even 1-2 days after, but since I have to go to the post office specifically for this, it is not always possible if selling comics is not your day job.

I have hardly waited more than one week anyway.

Imagine how sweet it was from Italy! lol

Anyway, I made my first "serious" purchases on eBay that way (I still recall buying Fantastic Four #16 and #21 and waiting an eternity to get them – but when they arrived… :whee: ).
