Early Appearance of Harley Quinn?
0

Have read in a different forum that below is a rare comicbook that contains an early appearance of Harley Quinn.

The indicia on the back cover is 1993 but there is no month indicated.

Any info when this thing was actually published? If it's earlier than Batman Adventures 12 then this could really be her first appearance.

How could that be considered anything other than a comic? Would you say that Mouse Guard is not a comic, or Stuff of Legends or anything that is not your standard current age size?

Would you consider Bernstein bears a comic as well?

BA 12 isn't the DC Universe. Her first appearance in DC Universe was the one shot, but this is the same as BA 12, but earlier.

Her true first appearance in anything was the cartoon, but that's not something you can sell.

It came out originally June 1st, 1993 according to Barnes and Noble

so June 1st 93, and BA 12 is Sept 93, which cover date is always what? 3 months later than actual release putting BA 12 @ July? :insane:

did you hear that? I just stirred the pot a little. lol

There's also a board game that came out before BA12...

As always, it's what the "community" considers the 1st app. And at this point I think that will be BA12 from here on out.

As we know with so many of these 1st app debates, facts and consistency have very little to do with the consensus.

True.......BUT I can give you a few (comic character) examples of where community consensus can change (over time).

Hellboy - First it was Next Men #21, THEN it was San Diego Comic-Con #2, THEN it was Dime Press #4, THEN it was 1991 Salt Lake City Convention Program.

Goon - First it was Goon #1 (Avatar), THEN it was Avatar Illustrated Summer 1998, THEN it was Dreamwalker #0.

It took time for the community to "decide" what was considered the first published appearance for these characters. Why can't Harley Quinn go through the same evolution? Guess only time (and the community) will tell.

I have a lunch receipt ticket with a mustard stain on it dated Jan 1992 that shows what Paul Dini and Bruce Timm had for lunch the day they first thought of Harley Quinn. does that count?

:shy:
