Man United confirm making a bid for RVP.

Arsenal would be insane to sell to Man U. If you actually aspire to compete for the title, why would you sell a major player to one of your main competitors?

So you suggest that we don't sell him and lose him for free next summer then?

If RVP is leaving based on "ambition", the signing of Podolski, Giroud & Cazorla clearly hasn't changed his mind so I say he is leaving for other reasons.

Let him go, if you get £25million for him take it. Spend it on someone else and see if RVP can have 2 injury free seasons in a row.

Personally I like what I am hearing from Arsenal in the press (Not sure how true this is though).

1 I would actually prefer them to loss £15 million and let him go on a free next year than sell him.
2 If we do sell, I say hold out for £20 from anyone other than Man utd, Man City or Chelsea. I just don't think the benifit of the price, out weighs the cost of strengthening our main premier league rivals.
3 Put a premium on those big 3, and only accept £25 - 30 Million. They have the money and if they want him they need to pay.

Arsenal don't need the money, £15 million is not enough to find an adequate replacement, so why accept it, as it isn't worth the overall affect of loosing our best player, captain and talisman for the second year running.

No-one can surely believe it is all about ambition \(shrug\) It's an exceptionally valid and agreeable excuse but it's not the truth.

No, I suggest that Arsenal not sell him to one of its main competitors.

As Gary rightly puts it, Arsenal are not desperate for money. If they get 5 million less because they sell him to Juve instead of a top English club, it`s not going to destroy Arsenal`s balance sheet.

In fact, by my calculations, if they just raise their ticket prices by an average of 4.50 per seat, they`ll recoup the 5,000,000 loss.

as i said before why the hell would anyone go to Italy nowadays, the league just falls apart more and more, fueled with corruption. also with RVP stating he wants to leave, fans will be on his back, to be fair i dont want him anymore, Gary is different it looks and that decision i respect, but if he dont want to be here then sod him, one good year out of 7 after we looked after him through injury is all insulting, maybe im stuck in the past of being a season ticket holder and not the happy clapper fan the Arsenal board want but i love this club through thick and thin of not missing many games since 1987/88

It's not a case of wanting him, Based on his statement I say good riddance. However, I want whats best for Asenal and selling him to Man utd or Man City for less than 20 million would not be good for Arsenal.

Keeping him won't be bad for Arsenal either. If his looses his form then simply don't play him. Something tells me though, if he stays he will play like he always does - he needs to keep his profile high to get a decent contract at the end of the season so why wouldn't he. \(shrug\)

At the moment the team sheet looks good, my only worry on a fully fit team is left back, Gibbs just doesn't do it for me and Santos seems a liability tracking back

On another note, Manchester United's IPO on the New York Stock Exchange went off today, and valued the club at a billion dollars less than what the Glazers were hoping. Gives them less capital for reducing their debt, and suggests they won't be able to participate going forward in the profligate spending on transfers.

I honestly can't understand why anyone would buy the stock at the IPO price. You look at the financials and it just screams POS.

And particularly why would any American investors buy it? 80% of them don't even know who Man U is, and what are the others buying into--the great English economy? lol
