Id rather have the slight miswrap. The pages peeking out looks way worse on that *spoon* 9.4

+1 The 9.4 definitely looks worse. Pretty weak 9.4 with all those spine ticks.

Cover centering appears to be the next big thing in comics though and having a nicely aligned spine will always give you a bump. Centering is almost the ONLY thing in sports card collecting that makes the difference between Fine VF NM MT etc. (of course they all have to have sharp corners, but that is a given)

Should have fully read the question. You do not need to disassemble a book to remove a spine roll.

Edit your prior post, dude! I almost replied to correct you until I saw this. lol

Wow, I don't even consider that 9.0 to have a spine roll. It's very subtle as to what was done.

The spine looks nicer on the 9.4 version but I still don't think it's a 9.4

I don't even think that was a spine roll, just off-center/folded from the publisher which is why the pages show in the front now.

What I am curious about was did it really get a bump because of the centering or was that un-necessary and it got a bump due to other defects that were pressed out in the process.

Yes, I don’t think it can be called a "spine roll", it just got a little skewed when folded, but staples were placed fine.

Personally I find incredibly annoying when the back cover (especially if white) shows partially on the front. I am even more annoyed if the book is cut with some "diagonal slant", which produces a roll with similar effects to the off-centering of this copy.

I prefer pages sticking out very little, I do not even notice them, but I really think a book with a marked miswrap or page roll looks in 90% of the cases pretty bad. \:\(
