You think as smart as Batman is, he would have figured out not to use the rope when climbing out of the hole.
He was using the rope because he was afraid of falling. Without using the rope the fear of falling made sure he didn't miss his target. He had to make it. Amazing things happen when people are scared enough, that's what the old man was trying to tell him.

It very well could have The Avengers being nominated because it's just too big to ignore. I just can't imagine being "too big to ignore" plays much of a part in the minds of Oscar voters, and if it does, they need to be a lot more selective in who they allow to vote. "Too high a quality to ignore," yes...popularity, no. Avatar was too big to ignore and it was a POS. Still got nominated.

Not to mention that it's sort of common sense to have a safety line of some sort.

But, but, Avatar told the story of how evil mankind is and how we care nothing of the indigenious peoples of whatever we are conquering.

TDKR is generating too much buzz and ink that the film is touting 'pro capitalism' and 'anti occupy' themes. One such article, of many: The Toronto Star Even the suggestion of such interpretations, whether intended or not, is probably enough to kill any TDKR Oscar chance. It'd be like Hollywood awarding Frank Miller's anti-occupy rant. Ain't gonna happen. You've posted a lot of things I don't agree with, but this is just dumb. But congrats for framing the argument in the way you want. If it gets a nod, it's an affirmation that Rand-ian theories are accepted by the public and Hollywood has been won over. If not, it's proof that Hollywood is full of lefty, capitalism-hating hippies. WTF? What 'argument'? If you think I'm making it up or twisting something, Google 'batman occupy' and see for yourself how news-hits it generates.
It just goes to show how moronic BOTH political parties are in that they can BOTH view this film as an attack on their 'values'. It's beyond moronic. It's SUB-moronic. It's a frickin' movie for pete's sake.

I actually went to see TDKR again yesterday for the second time and it seems that I missed so much. I think the first time there was so much excitement and hooha and an over crowded theatre made it harder for me to catch the complete flick. There were parts I just didn't remember what was going to happen next. It was like watching a new never seen movie yesterday and the whole thing was better this time around. It is a better movie the second time around and a less than packed theatre will add to your viewing pleasure.
