Anybody have experience crossing over Anacs coins to NGC? I just bought a couple of seated liberty dimes that look decent. Obviously grading is on a coin by coin basis....just looking for general comments on Anacs grading.

Just a heads up - NGC now requires that the coins be removed prior to grading, so you want to make sure that the coins will likely cross before sending them. Alternatively, I would submit crossover coins to PCGS.

My experience is not personal in this arena, but as a company, I can tell you that the success rate for coins in newer ANACS slabs is abysmal for us.

The two dimes that I bought are in the second generation/blue holders. Both are toned....one is "crusty" and the other has some nice shades of green and blue. I'll post some pics when they arrive....either here or in "Buddy....spare a grade".

You can, but you must sign a waiver allowing NGC to crack the coin out before it ever passes before the graders. That is what I meant by my crossover comment. While I have (relative) confidence in my ability to grade accurately and identify problem coins, I wouldn't crack one and submit it raw (or allow NGC to do the same). I really wish they would change this policy. It's the only reason why my Collector's Club membership is with PCGS and not NGC. I actually prefer NGC because of its superior customer service.

Coinman, if I was going to crossover, I wouldn't even try to crack a coin out and submit it raw.........too much risk! I know some love the risk, but not me
Lot #2172. 1882 Breen-3421. Liberty Seated Dime. MS-64 (PCGS). (Auction Information: July 2004 Baltimore Auction - 8/7/2004) I did some research on the 1882 seated dime. It's labeled Breen3421. Stacks and Bowers shows this coin was in a PCGS holder MS64. Now it's in a ANACS holder MS62. Is this a case of a bust out gone bad? Possibly busted out ...cleaned ...sent back to PCGS and then received a details grade? Then sent to ANACS to get a MS grade? Either I'm missing something or something strange happened here..........thoughts?
