The contest will resume with (hopefully) two Image challenges on Friday, July 20th (though I can't give time estimates yet).

Terrific thread. I have read most of the posts with the photo hints, and am waxing nostalgic for more clues like the first clue, "Earth vs the Flying Saucers". Given the quick correct responses despite "tough" clues I guess that aint gonna happen. lol

Welcome to the thread frozentundraguy. We're not even 20% through the contest yet, so there will be plenty of opportunities to score (though the very high level of competition has surprised even me).

I will endeavor to keep things challenging and fun.

So relax, pull up a chair, and enjoy some 50's/60's sci-fi goodness - there's much more to come. \:\)

Due to an ongoing family medical issue - and out of respect for the victims of the Batman movie shooting in Colorado - there will be no Image challenge today.

To make a long story short, I had three immediate family members hospitalized locally (one planned, two unplanned) for separate incidents... at virtually the same time. Sorry for the disconnect, but things were beyond my control.

I'd like to re-establish momentum in this thread and continue the Image challenge contest if sufficient interest remains. We can resume as early as tomorrow (Tuesday the 24th).

a List of novels,a cover gallery,even a timeline.

im posting the metafilter thread like always as the commenters are quite the passionate and linking bunch.

not too many just yet,but give it a few days

best comment so far,

They look delectable. I would eat those tomes. I would read them first wearing my space suit and x-ray laser pistol, then I would make a stew. Potatoes, carrots, onions, a little salt and pepper (not too much).

Down the hatch.

Board member pcalhoun is an avid collector of sci-fi books (mainly the digest paperbacks, I think).
