Just got back my Giant Size X-men #1. It graded a 9.6 Universal Blue with Cream to Off white pages. Wondering how much the Page color will affect the price on this book?

I'm not really sure what you mean, Oak \?\?\?

But I would say it's just a little less desirable and for newer (past silver age) books, especially in higher grades, CR/OW is rare. I would say discount the regular selling price of a standard copy (which for that book, I would say is OW/W) by 15%

If you're going to sell it, CR/OW will be a negative for a modern book. You will definitely have fewer people interested in buying it because of the CR/OW.
If you're going to keep it, though, focus on the 9.6 designation - it must be a beautiful book, so congratulations!

+1

Im as big a PQ snob as there is but a 9.6 GSXmen1?!? Dude, ill trade that 9.6cow for my 9.0ish white ANY day and twice on Sunday!

Like some have said, there are some people that will be turned off to it or will expect a discount if they are buying it but it isnt exactly rare. Theres also PLENTY of people who wont give a hoot that the PQ is c/ow so i dont expect there'd be any trouble selling it. A white page copy maybe you could sell above gpa instead of at or just slightly below with a c/ow copy.

regardless, thats a sick book so i wouldnt worry about the PQ at all! Do you have the full Wolverines claws at the bottom on yours or is it cut off?

btw, this is a BA not a SA book
lol

LMW you will probably lose a couple hundred due to PQ, personally I don't mind PQ but I find when selling a book with C/OW I don't get full GPA value.

I have to be honest, for a 1975 book that will hurt the value. I will not go past off-white pages, on any book. That being said, I do have OCD (just kidding; I think...).

I would venture to say the book was preserved from contact, but not from humidity or temperature changes. Do you know the origins of the book; meaning how and where it was stored?

I can tell you that when I posted a 'wanted to buy' offer for this book, I would not go lower than OW to W pages, due to it's age. I would watch completed auctions to get an idea of price variance. Some collectors will care, others will not.

Kind Regards,

'mint'

Question: "I was wondering how you deal with collectors and speculators who truly believe that the items they are buying now are going to be worth a lot of money in the future...?"

ANSWER: "The safest approach is to avoid discussing the topic of future collectability with these individuals: first, they know more than anyone else; second, they are deaf to any opinion that does not agree with their own; third, they are misguided optimists, assuming past practice could not possibly apply in their case."

On any given day that Cream/Off white book can grade an off white or better book.Don't take too much faith in the PQ designations. \(thumbs u
