Finding someone with a 1-in-10,000 body is far, FAR easier than finding someone with a 1-in-10,000 body who can also act their way out of a paper bag. Not sure I've ever seen anyone over 6' 6" who could act.
True and thats why they would need a voice over

Acting is as much in the body as it is in the voice.
It's even harder than finding a Wonder Woman--far more women are around 5' 10" to 6' than men are above 6' 6".

I've never read a comic with Bane. Why's he likable? I tend to not like brutes--I usually don't like pro wrestlers, don't like people who have that "I'm big and strong and you're not" swagger which Bane did in this film, and tend not to like the pure brawlers from comics.
So why do you guys like Bane so much? I'm guessing you have to like bulky brawlers in general to find him likable.
You must have breadstick arms. I was kind of disappointed that Other than Tom Hardy's traps and shoulders he is less bulky then Bale in Batman Begins and is also only 5'10". The only comics I read with Bane was Knightfall and he left me unimpressed perhaps due to his terrible early 90's hair cut.
Did we watch the same movie?
Bane looked monstrous in the movie. He was big, strong, fast and powerful. It was very believable, and moreso than a 12 foot talk, green Hulk that was all CGI even if it was well done in the Avengers.
You can't compare a media shot of Tom Hardy to Bane much like you can't complain that John Reyes-Davies was too tall to play an actual dwarf in LOTR.
Hardy knocked it out of the park. Even the voice didn't bother me all that much as I just assumed it was because he was talking through the head gear.

There are plenty of tall actors.
I think he was talking about someone 6' 6" with a 300 plus pound physique. Those guys are rare as hens teeth and even tougher to find with acting chops.

Plenty? see how many you can name over 6'4" who actually speak a line. I'll give you one. Richard Kiel. He's 7'2" like Peter Mayhew but neither of them are going to be winning any awards with their acting.
I was responding specifically to what I bolded in his post.

Yea he came to mind after I posted that, although he's incredibly slender. There are a bunch of actors under 6' 6"--Robbins, Vince Vaughn, Fred Thompson, David Hasselhoff, etc, etc, etc. Taller people aren't just rare, they tend to be discriminated against--they're so far from the norm that it's distracting, sort of the way actresses with overly-large breasts get discriminated against because their size distracts from their role.

I know what you were responding to, but you took it out of the context of his post. He didn't spell it out but I believe the spirit of what he was saying was that he was specifically talking about a person with a 1 in 10,000 body builder body.

Yea--just 6' 6" to 6' 8" with a normal frame is easier, it's more like 1 in 3,000. But stack a huge bone density onto that height--THAT'S rare, probably rarer than 1 in 10,000, and unfortunately it's what a lot of comic book villains call for. Kingpin, Juggernaut, Bane, Venom, etc etc. Can't hold that as a requirement--it's retarded how frequently comics writers choose that unrealistically rare body type anyway.
