QUESTION:

The lettering on the reverse of the 1976 Bicentennial Dollar was changed to make it more appealing and for what other reason?

This weeks winner will win a copy of “100 Greatest American Medals and Tokens” by Katherine Jaeger and Q.David Bowers

There will also be a runner up prize given to a selected player with the correct answer.

The mint found that the copper nickel dollar was striking indistinctly,a problem not seen with silver coins.So the mint modified the dies to the narrower and sharper lettering!

The lettering was changed because of indistinct striking on the clad coins.
