Yes, but Phelps could run and jump, and pretty well too by ordinary standards. Could Jesse Owens or Carl Lewis swim? Or would they have drowned if you threw them in the water?
That being said, I'd like to see Phelps compete in the 10k race, just to see if he can actually swim.
The "best" Olympian would probably be the decathlon winner, especially if they added swimming to the event.

Is anyone able to DVR events or see them on demand? I just realized Comcast is doing their best to prevent me from seeing everything delayed, and because I'm at my girlfriend's house today and she has no HD, I can't even see US men's basketball live because Comcast has no non-HD version of the game. When you look at the channel guide to DVR anything, all it says is "Summer Olympics" all day, which means I either record everything or nothing, I can't target specific events.
This might be my final blow with Comcast that makes me switch to FIOS.

Just found that Comcast does have the events from yesterday available on demand...but they're all HD only, and they're not the full events, they're all 3-minute recaps of each event.
So it looks like I won't be seeing much of or any Olympics this year. I tried the online streaming feed from NBC--it's horrible, big ad banner at the top and video that's so choppy it looks like I'm on a 56k modem.

I know one thing. There's not a single thing in these events that I could ever do. Other than selling concession, or maybe a voice over announcement. It hard for me to be critical of anyone's performance. I do wish that hurdling gal would have made the cut. The one who danced around before a race.

"If it's not disclosed...you're being hosed." Who coined that phrase? Me, damnit! And it's still true.
"Into my heart an air that kills,From yon far country blows What are those blue remembered hills,What spires, what farms are those? That is the land of lost content,I see it shining plain, The happy highways where I went and cannot come again."

Going to see volleyball Wed/Thurs and men's Q-final soccer Saturday. Will be a busy week! Though the wife really wanted gymnastics... can't have it all I guess.
