Warning, Spoiler:
I liked when the ship crashed back to the planet and started rolling toward Vickers and Shaw, eventually making it's 'natural selection'.

Or, like George Lucas, Ridley started smoking his own dope.

Could be but the two are very different.

Did Lucas put out anything else except for Star Wars and Indiana Jones flicks?

Ridley has proven himself in so many genres that I'd be surprised if he flopped this one.

Again, I could very well be wrong but with a track record like this I am giving the benefit of the doubt for now.

The movie was a very mixed bag. Some great moments, acting and ideas, spoiled by some very stupid characters and giant plot holes.
Seems like the movie was written and produced with too many yes men and not enough editors.

That said I will still gladly watch the next film if Ridley Scott can make it.
I give it somewhere around a C+/B-

I'm a Ridley fan too. He obviously has a much longer track record than Lucas. And the worst moments in Prometheus are light years better than anything in the Star Wars prequels.

But based on the interviews with the Prometheus screenwriters and Ridley himself, he seemed to have a pretty heavy hand in the story and screenplay. And even if he didn't, it was well within his power to fix most of the problems.

Revealed when?

A story hinging on a " sequel" is not good storytelling. This was meant to be a self contained work, not a two part movie or trilogy.

If this was meant to be a complete movie then I'd agree. Right now it feels like I've stopped reading halfway through a novel.

The choppy scenes, the plot holes (although I am still suspending that the plot holes may actually be purposeful - not enough info at this point), the tension...it really did feel old school sci-fi to me.

Anybody else see it in that light?

Roy, if I wanted bad 50s camp sci-fi, I would've turned on cable at 2 in the morning instead of paying $14 for a ticket.

The robot plot (while aged and tired) was somewhat nostalgic, if not overdone. If you think about the "serial" type ending, it was indeed a nod to the classic sci fi movies.

The whole point of the movie seems to be that we will NEVER get answers. Kinda ironic huh? The protagonist never got any, and neither did the audience. It did make for a frustrating experience.

Yes, and the next 150 pages are all blank.

Seriously, I'm almost certain the extended release version, whenver it comes out, will no doubt improve the film . But you got to wonder if a sequel is ever made, will Ridley Scott be the one behind it?
