Agents #6 cgc 9.8 auction just ended.
The book that has the 1st appearance of the Walking Dead and supposedly there are only 2 9.8 books in the CGC registry (I haven't checked). Comicpriceguide.com values it at $28, but this is obviously off. It just sold on EBAY for $455.00. Yes, I was high bid at $202.50 with 8 minutes to go. The next bids were $450.00 and $455.00 One word...WOW!

Yep, I was interested in the book until it hit 191.50, then I dropped it like a bad habit. That price is just unbelievable to me. Let the craziness begin (again!) this October
A couple of errors on my part: 1) the price guide says $44.80, not $28 (that is for 9.6) 2) there are 5 issues rated at 9.8, not 2. I just checked.
So after that, I picked up a Capes #1 for $70.00 and will be shipping it off to CGC was soon as I get it if this is what is going to happen to these books.
Don't worry, five years from now you'll be able to pick up that book for less than $200. It's the nature of Modern books. They start out strong and then fizzle. If you're patient you'll get a great deal later on.
I agree w/ Surfer99. Always will go DoWN. Been going on forever...in the 80's Elementals #1 "mint" there wasn't CGC to verify went for an easy $100. Now you can't give it away. With that said, I recently submitted 2 Agent 6's to cgc. One may pass for 9.8 but will probably fetch a 9.6. The other is a lucky 9.4. Either way, I'll cash in for the lesser of the two. Hype is fun!
I've seen so many WD CGCs at shows over the past 3-4 months with ridiculous prices. They sit there on day one, and they're packed up at the end of the show. It only takes one sale to an enthusiastic "I gotta have it" buyer to keep the other sellers' prices up. And yes I'm guilty of overpaying for a book or twenty haha but I won't budge on modern book overpricing.
And with modern books, there is such a glut of trades that I really wonder how anything except variants on low print runs can hold any price over $20 for 5+ years.
Anyone see what the first appearance of Phantomex is going for in a 9.8???? Ridiculous. I'm selling high on that one...

Agreed... I have a few graded WD that I'm going to sell once the season 3 starts.

That's a good question, and I would say for the first 'round' of fast trackers, yep. But the market is going to get super flooded when the show hits so they may go cheap come sept.
With this Agents #6 selling so high, I hope it will spring many others to get their 9.8's graded so there will be tons of supply out there and then we can watch the prices plummet
