I can't belive they pre-empted AGT for this. Whats the chances the LA "fans" riot over this championship?

Same chance as other teams' fans?

NY has won too many championships to count and has never had a riot afterwards. I'm not sure why, but it hasn't.

Grats LA, well deserved, they were they best team in the playoffs this year. To bad it really makes the regular season a meaningless thing. Did hockey need to end mid june?

Not enough real kings fans in LA to riot. Not enough deep love for the team I.e. Lakers, dodgers.

Oh well... it was a good year and a great, completely unexpected run despite the way it ended...
I really wish it hadn't gone the way it did tonight, quirky as it was. I really felt that the Devils were weathering the storm of the Kings' initial jump at the start of the game. Then Bernier did what he did...
...for my money, that guy shouldn't even be allowed on the plane back to Jersey. My beloved home state may be a cesspool but we still have standards.
I don't care that De Boer is saying all the right things and that Bernier was the first guy out of the locker room to talk about it. What he did was disgraceful and unacceptable at any time, let alone in game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. It cost the Devils any chance they had of winning this game. Especially knowing how suspect the PK has been all post-season.
When the penalty happened and I was explaining to my son how a major penalty lasts the duration regardless of scoring, I added that I wouldn't be at all surprised if the score was 3-0 when the penalty ended... *spoon*!!! I hate being right... But you could just feel it; the vibe was all death knell and the like.
I also don't care about the blown call just before the penalty. Whether or not it was an iffy call, that still doesn't excuse what Bernier did. Even if the Devils had held on and won game 6, his cup finals was over and now, his season will begin a couple of weeks later than most. And it had better begin with him wearing a different team's jersey.
But, enough of the past; time to start looking towards the future. Two big questions regarding my beloved Devs going forward. Who will be the goalie next year and beyond? What happens with Parise?
On the latter, frankly, I'm apathetic to the whole situation. Any team that wants to sign Parise is first going to have to find him because he's been missing for over two weeks. If he goes, it will suck but we'll live. I think it's pretty clear that we have a captain in waiting in 22 year old Adam Henrique and at least he doesn't wither and die when his team needs him most; in the Stanley Cup finals.
He may not get to wear the C next year; if Zach takes his disappearing act on the road, then that honor needs to go to Elias. But soon enough, it'll become Henrique's team. And he'll have company. Besides him, Josefsson, Tedenby, Fayne, Urbom, Taeromina, & Larsson are all 25 and younger, were/are all highly regarded prospects, and all already have extensive NHL experience. Behind them "on the farm" the d-line in particular is well stocked including very high upside guys like Eric Gelinas and Jon Merrill (who does have a bit of growing up to do).
Besides, in an ideal world where the Devils' financial situation is stabilized (and there are reports that it may finally be), I'm not so sure that the best strategy is committing yet another huge pile of cash to another forward. And this one's no superstar like Kovalchuk. I would rather take the significant amount of cap space and make some bold move to shore up the goaltending situation for the next half decade and to fill out the roster around the stars that will remain.
Suffice it to say though that it will be an interesting off-season...
...as for the rest... no worries; there's another game in October
