I havent seen the Winnipeg but i thought it looked as white as the Northland. Of course, thats just going off of a single scan of each which who knows how good they were \(shrug\)

Northland is now a SS also?!? Jesus, i dont know what people are thinking! 1st Boston and now Northland?!?

Beautiful books, everyone!

I would not suggest comparing based on scans as I can see there are a wide of scanners being used all with different settings that make an apples-to-apples comparison impractical.

Probably not all of them

Amazing books, Alan! I particularly like your scanner's ability to conjure up 9.6s from 1962.

I know the Oakland Collection doesn’t always get a lot of respect because it only goes back to the mid 60s. And nobody would ever claim that it’s the same league as the Curators, WMs, or PCs. That said, I think it’s a pretty great collection. They’re structurally beautiful and also have good gloss and colors.

Looking back, I think that Vincent Z., Mike C., and Bob S. did a great job on grading the collection. Almost every Oakland book I’ve submitted to CGC came back with the same grade (or better) as listed on the original labels.

To buy the books when Vincent first got the collection, I played hooky from work and took the longest subway ride ever to his parent’s place in Far Rockaway. I still think it was worth every second on the A train.
