Given the marks on the upper and lower cheek bones. The spot in the hair and the huge rim knick at 3 oclock. The fact that the only thing that stands out is the reverse toning. We all know reverse toning is not nearly as nice as obverse.

I would say the key word is definately arguably.

We have all seen coins which are over graded and this is no different.

Different strokes for different folks, I don't care for morgans or barber coinage. But I don't discriminate against people who do, I don't care if your thing is the presidential dollar series, I can still respect that.

I am quite retarded actually.

That is why I am having so much trouble finding the wonderfully toned frank I am seeking. You know because they are so common.

I did state it is ugly and the toning is usually not attractive. Not usually easy to find.

And no. Your frank doesnt get me jerking.

The examples posted in this thread are just about some of the nicest you will find. If you don't like any of these, well, you're just never going to find one you like. I'm ok with that - more for me.

I do like a couple.

When you love a design I suppose you can be a little less picky.

With this design I do not have that luxury.

Many who have seen this coin in hand argue that it is still undergraded, deserving a 66. Mark Salzberg even said it was only a hairs breadth away from being a 66 - the tiny nick on the rim being the only thing really keeping it down.

Says the guy who is looking for a Franklin for a type set and really knows nothing about the series. Thanks but I will take Jason's word on the subject since this is his series. You know his registry set is in the top 25 don't you?

You won't find me complimenting Jason too often, but in this case I have to agree. Being in the top 25 itself doesn't mean anything, as many many people just buy themselves there with little if any knowledge of the series or fervor for numismatics. However, in Jason's case, Frankies are his strength. When it comes to grading and a knack for finding Frankies with great eye appeal, Jason is tops. \(thumbs u

It must be getting really late or I'm having a delirious day ;\)

I don't think so. If you want to talk about an ugly coin, here's an ugly coin.
