Only a tiny percentage of my hobby funds go to auction houses. I simply don't have confidence in them, I want to avoid the hype and hysteria, not to mention the shilling, the endless disappointments, and I greatly prefer dealing with entities that I know and trust - like Bedrock, Bunky, A-1, Harley, Payette, Blazing Bob, etc.

Dealing with a reputable dealer for books at a fixed price may not offer me nearly the selection that an auction house does, but it sure provides me with a much more satisfying experience overall.

And speaking personally, I've never encountered a shortage of material such that my budget overflows for a lack of available books.

While the auction houses may get most of the attention (and most of the threads on this board), it's the honest dealers who are the backbone of the hobby for me. Without them, I wouldn't even be here.

I agree ,but the landscape is changing. The avengers grossed over 702 million dollars worldwide in the first 13 days of release..look at that correlation to the price of avengers 4 on Ha.com, the guide price is a joke. I would like it the "way it was" in the old days, but the top stuff is going straight to the auction house and they will either private sell it or put it online as there client base is too big and strong. they are becoming the top private sellers of quality material also.
Also they have the bucks, the big ones to handle large cash advances, I do not any dealers that give a cash advance. Do you?

I like cap 19 and cap 73 also.

You don't know any dealers that give cash advances? You're kidding, right?

Hey Mitch, how much did you or Theo pay for the Cap 19 and 73? What year did you acquire them? Did you buy the from a great auction house or were you forced to stoop so low as to buy them from a dealer? rantrant

And on that note Mitch disappears to annoy in another thread, leaving bold statements to fend for themselves as they are shot down by fact. MitchMoron strikes again.

CC is metro, Jim is Ha...hello, what dealers do you know that have a one million dollar line of credit, because that what is gonna take to compete with the big boys and there are about 50 books I like in this auction, I do not have nor does theo have any books in this auction period. Look for jaw-dropping results and THIS is a good auction, you just have to look and there will be bargains

If I found a million dollar collection, I can think of at least 2 people here that could buy the collection with me. There are many others here I don't know well enough to ask but, are capable of doing the same thing.
