The Dark Knight was the best movie about 9-11 made to date.
The Avengers movie takes a different approach to the destruction of Manhattan.

I look forward to you trying to change my mind about TDK one day this summer in a phone conversation.

For those that don't venture into comics general, this was my review and various thoughts about the movie:
This is my analysis of the movie (no spoilers so read freely).
What a killer product. I think this movie is right now the best Superhero movie that any company has put out. The overall product was near perfect.
I agree, that the movie for the most part was well written. I too found the dialogue among some S.H.I.E.L.D. agents a little dry.
This movie shows what a veteran can bring to the table when they (Marvel) decides to put on their "A" game. Whedon is going to go down in history as a legend among superhero movie directors.
You can tell that he never tried to "flex" his directing muscles to try and prove what he could do, or over did any of the CGI, or try to impress anyone. He just kept focused on the polished, finished product and stayed on target.
Mistakes that less experienced or less mature directors make is they are trying to "show off" what they can do, not realizing that just making a good movie (without the unnecessary glitter and sparkle) is enough.
This movie was bang on. It was relatively complex due to the character development of many characters, there were many different fighting sequences going on, the movie moved at a relatively fast pace right from the opening frame and there were a lot of stars (and possible egos) on the screen and yet the film was easy to follow, never overwhelmed you and left you feeling satisfied at the end...and it didn't feel like a 2.3 hour film.
I found it far easier to follow than other big production films that are so poorly filmed that even though you have an idea of the story line, visually you can't tell which way is up or down.
Whedon's filming style has a "feel" to it that is all his own. Much like Tim Burton has his signature style, Whedon's seems to be very comic book like, with mini cliff hangers throughout the movie that he comes back to "just in the nick of time" and the action sequences are powerful and exciting but never too much to retain.
One thing that I really liked is that they didn't make it a formulaic movie with overdone romance or egos much like Hollywood is wont to do. It was true to life, or as much as an Avengers movie could be.
----------------------------
The movie seemed to have the correct "depth" both visually, character wise and dialogue wise, which is very difficult to do. Whedon seems to be terrific at gauging what the finished product is going to look and sound like and comes across with a polished product that is made for all ages. I've never been a Whedon fan, only because I have never watched Buffy or read much of his stuff. The only Whedon thing I did watch was Doctor Horrible and that it was fantastic. Same style there, perfect depth. He is obviously very versatile much like many other directors.
Whedon is on my watch list now.
What an artist!
------------------------
All in all, just a killer product.
As an interesting side note, my friend's comic shop had it's all time best day ever and he directly correlates it to the Walking Dead and Avengers films.
If this is a taste of what is coming, we are in for a treat over the next few years. Everyone was buzzing about the movie.
That line was the best line of the movie.
I found it the most original take on the Banner/Hulk psyche I have ever encountered.
Has it been done before in the books?
I was moved by it & talked about it -- gushed over it -- all night last night.
One single line of eloquent dialogue captures the essence of a complex psychological conflict that writers have worked over for 50 years & does so in an entirely new way.
Bravo! Another great line from the movie was when Banner said "I tried to kill myself...I shot myself in the mouth but he just spit the bullet out". It was brilliant and went to show how tortured he was. He was trapped and there was nothing he could do. This movie seemed to be written around the Hulk. He was the central focus of everyone in the movie...don't get him upset, becareful around him, the Heli carrier had a special containment cell just for him, he was their secret weapon and the dumb beast was their saviour in the alien battle and even saved Iron Man's life. He was also divisive in teaching Black Widow her own mortality (she was scared stiff during the Heli Carrier attack after hulk almost pounced her until she heard about Barton again) I loved how Iron Man helped him come to grips with his "condition". It shows that much of Banner's anger and resentment has been undealt with up until now. BTW, Stan Lee should have done the: "Son, then you have a condition" line Ruffalo's Hulk is by far the best yet. I loved how they made him look like Ruffalo AND SOUND like Ruffalo in his green state. Just awesome. MOAR!!
Well put Roy. Which is why I picked Hulk as the most important character in the movie Yup. Any other character could have been interchangeable. This was almost a Hulk movie with guest stars. Almost. By far the best CGI version of the hulk too. I'm giddy as a school child with excitement. Marvel better get their butts in gear. I can't wait another 3 years!

Populations suffer from a fear of change, for their conditioning assumes a static identity. Challenging ones belief system usually results in insult and aprehension. Being wrong is eroniously associated with failure, when in fact to be proven wrong should be celebrated, for it elevates us to a new level of understanding. There is no such thing as a smart Human being, for it is merely a matter of time before their ideas are updated, changed or eradicated. This tendency to hold on to a belief system, any belief system and sheltering it from new possibly transforming information, is nothing less than intellectual materialism. Dominant World views operate with the same social irrelevancy, they exist as barriers to social and individual growth. Major institutions exist as barriers to personal and social growth for each group perpetuates a closed world view. Pat Tillman...
