Yes, another friend and I always sort of chuckle at how perfectly timed theat PiH Lost auction was. I think if that passport came up for sale again, I HIGHLY doubt it would even come close to $4500.
60 lbs is nothing to sneeze at but if you weigh 360 and you drop 60, you're still 300 lbs. It's not about weight loss, but % of total weight lost.
Regardless, it was his one cameo on Curb many years ago that really "broke" his career. The Lost folks saw him on that and cast him on the show first - the rest is history.

Jack and Hurley were my favorite characters. I loved Hurley's role as the moral compass and general good guy of the Losties. It is very believable that Jorge would be close to his character and that he never took himself too seriously as a star.

Just like his character on "Lost"... He's been in trouble before. I think he drunkenly assaulted or harassed a strip-club dancer (or something like that) a few years ago too.

Here's a scenario:
The biggest star/mystery of Lost was The Island.
Bring in a fresh plane load of characters. Have Hurley and Ben Linus as The Island protectors.
Hard to see ABC funding another big-budget, Oahu-location-shot weekly TV series in this YouTube, reality-show-cheap era.
While Jorge could probably be lured back, I'm not so sure about Emerson. And another planeload of 21st century survivors would be a bit too much same-old-same-old.
My dream project would be a series of TV movies or feature-length films implanted into the continuity, such as:
1- the arrival of Charles Widmore, Eloise Hawking, etc. as children in the 1940s/1950s, the original Others. We haven't seen them as pre-teens, so the characters could be re-cast. Could do this with or without Richard Alpert, depending upon the actor's availability.
2- the arrival of the Dharma Initiative to the island. Would probably need to do this without Pierre Chang or Horace, but that's ok. We could see the deGroots up close for the first time.
3- the post-Incident, pre-Purge narrative. Maybe re-cast Ben for the character's teenage years. Would be good to have Ben's dad, Richard Alpert and Jacob around, but could probably work around them if necessary. The Man in Black / Smoke Monster could look like anyone.

Any minute now I'm going to start reading blogs and multiple web sites trying to make sense of this complete and utter nonsense. I am about to do the same thing. Link. Report back here, when you've got it all figured out. See you in two years!
Well?
