You should give it another chance.

One year later, part 1 of the 2-part final Doc Jensen Lost Column

I do miss this guy's theorizing. Now maybe, just maybe, part 2 will really resolve everything for us.

Well, part 2 of 2 is now posted and I think it is very well done. Jensen makes a credible case that warts-and-all, Lost is still worth the effort for the serious questions it poses about the nature of faith, of redemption, of meaning. Those of us expecting the big reveal to a whodunnit a year ago, experienced an epic fail. But later viewers may well re-watch the show not only for its many well-done episodes and memorable scenes over the years, but also for its overarching theme: a seriously religious show nevertheless highly critical of the way human beings actually practice their religions.

Just watched the last ep again and it still sends shivers down my spine every time they "wake up" and realize who they are.

Thanks for posting the links. I don't buy into Doc Jensen's view, but it is a very good read and an interesting interpretation of the characterizations. He's reading too much into it. In the finale, it seemed to me that it was clear that Darlton wanted us to believe that the end of the world was coming with the island being unplugged. It wasn't just a conformance to Jacob's belief system.

the 'awakening' scenes with the music score are the best. brings a tear every time.

Squicky news of the day: 'Green Mile,' 'Lost' actor, 51, marries 16-year-old
Prepare to shudder, people. A 51-year-old character actor who appeared in "The Green Mile" and had recurring roles on "Lost" (as Horace Goodspeed), "24" and "The X-Files" has gotten hitched to a 16-year-old.

Yep, 16.

E! News reports Doug Hutchison married "aspiring country singer" and "former beauty pageant queen" Courtney Alexis Stodden on May 20 in Las Vegas (minors can marry in Sin City with the permission of a parent or legal guardian).

Link.
